I recently published "Cheecho the Magnificent Magico," a MG novel which includes the topic of deportation. I first came up with the concept in 2018 as children were being separated from their parents. I wondered: "How might a child react to this situation?" The result is a book about a boy who befriends an old magician and learns magic to bring his father home. In researching, I was surprised with the amount of literature/workbooks/discussion points on how to discuss the topic with children. Given today’s climate, do you think it’s a good time for a book of this nature?
