LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 1118 comments The $15,000 prize will be awarded annually to a woman who is a USA citizen, and who has written the best book-length work of prose fiction, whether novel, short stories, or experimental writing. Works written primarily for children and publications from private and vanity presses will not be considered for this prize. We are particularly interested in calling attention to the work of a promising but less established writer.

The 2025 finalists for this prize include Claire Oshetsky for Poor Deer.

Kathleen | 153 comments I was so impressed with Poor Deer that after I listened to it, I got the book and read it. I wanted to make sure I had not missed anything. It deserves a win. Now I’m looking forward to Lark’s next book, which I think she said would be published early in 2026.
