Sarah Fazakerley | 2 comments Sitting on this rough draft too long. It's a feminist sailing misadventure, or...literary psychological thriller with lots of attitude. And boats. Synopsis below.

Please help me with your consistency, encouragement and dynamic sense of pacing. In return, I will show up like a Palace Guard, armed with decades of editorial, marketing, workshop, theatrical, academic claptrap.
I'm having trouble deciding if it's too slow, needs more depth or twists.
I'm a British sailor in Portugal; book appeals to American market.

Synopsis:
Baja California, Mexico, 1988
Kate (20's, British) falls in love with Greg (40's, American), his sailboat Wanderer, and the liveaboard lifestyle. For her, it's the ultimate escape from a troubled past and humdrum England. She sets her heart on voyaging, but Greg has a different course plotted.

He trades their boat for a derelict catamaran, modifies it to his plans and hijacks her dream to smuggle an illicit human cargo. Torn between loyalty and lust, Kate must overcome her fears to out-run the laws of the land, only to have to choose between freedom and survival when confronted with the mightier powers of the sea.
