Hooray! The more the merrier, always! I think I'm starting in the next few days. I'm really looking forward.
I had to choose between my last two vamp books but this was also the Everett book I wanted to read most after James so I'm glad you started it so I have an excuse to choose this one
It’s fantastic—kind of creepy, very satirical, and really angry. Better than Dr. No; almost as good as James for me. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, but it’s coming together. I’m starting Telephone next. I’m nearly done with Trees.
I totally saw you used it for Mississippi. I kept thinking I could put it there but then remembered I was using it for copycat.
I finished and I'm just still not in the right headspace to completely enjoy these. Like I can tell they're so well written, but I'm just not getting it lol.I think I'll need to read a couple fluffy romantic MM reads. Maybe I'll jump to Crybaby (much loved reread for me as well) before I tackle any more of these books that I want to appreciate more

And so true feeling! This is the kind of thing I'm glad I read instead of heard. It was hard enough.
Jackie, I thought it was really, really good.

I read 2 super short Drarrys before I tackled Telephone. And I'm reading too fairly fluffy Quills books (just finished one, and now on to a historical MM) before diving into Tomson Highway, which I know is going to be good but hard.
I found some short, light books for a couple of the weekly Vampire tasks. Plus I’m going to reread A Man Called Ove for the bad social skills task. Love Fredrik Backman!
Yes quite uncomfortable and this book is probably lost on the younger generation. As it involves the KKK. With this being a cultural haunting read. I know the part with all the names can seem tedious especially with audio. But knowing those are real names of Black and Asians that were part of lynching should be heard by all.
ooo... this BR is still active. This one looks good. I'm going to join in if ok. I just need to wait for my hold to come in.
I keep hoping this one gets a better for me. As much as I loved James, this one is missing the mark for me. I was prepared to be uncomfortable given certain language & topics (like racism), but surprisingly this one is trying to be funny. And THAT is missing the mark completely with me. I don't know if it's a me thing or it's just trying to hard. I'll continue with this one. I keep waiting for things to get better, but I think this is as good as it's going to get.
And, as an audiobook listener, the overuse of "he said", "she said", so & so said... it tears me out of the story. And this is happening every minute or so and excessively. I rarely say a book should not be done via listening, but this one might be one of the few exceptions to that.
I finished. I landed at a 3.5. The second half picked up a bit for me. But overall, this one just never flowed for me.
