We wanted to celebrate the holiday weekend with an extended Readathon. The Readathon will start today (7/3) and go through 7/7. We look forward to seeing what everyone is going to tackle. We are also a little over half way through the year. It’s a good time to review goals and adjust plans.

*We apologize for letting Canadian day pass by! We will try to remember for next year.

I'm in the midst of 3 books, 1 a carryover from June which I hate to do but oh well! lol
Lightspeed Year One by John Joseph Adams (I've finally started reading a good amount of this each day)
Cold Eternity by S.A. Barnes (wanted to read for SciFiJune but my hold didn't come in till 6/29!)
This Is Why We Lied (Will Trent, #12) by Karin Slaughter (audio)

I've read 174 books so far and my goal is 200 so I'm good. lol.

As usual I have a very unrealistic list! I just wanted some variety to pick from. We have 3 parties to go to this weekend but should have some decent reading time each day :)

Here One Moment - Liane Moriarty *finished*
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe - Laurie Gilmore *finished*
The Night We Lost Him - Laura Dave
What the River Knows - Isabel Ibanez
Fortune and Glory - Janet Evanovich *finished*

Start - Listen for the Lie - Amy Tintera got to 25%
Start - Ruthless Vows - Rebecca Ross got to 10%

I also would like to finish A Court of Wings and Ruin at 75% now
Read another 20% of the Frozen River at 45% now *got to 66%

I finished This Is Why We Lied last night. Glad to take a break from the gruesome brutality of women for awhile. Starting something a little lighter today Out of the Woods (Out, #2) by Hannah Bonam-Young . I LOVED Out on a Limb (Out, #1) by Hannah Bonam-Young ! I'd say happy 4th but it's really not so happy Friday instead. We have no plans this long weekend except to go to a strawberry festival tonight. Bastien's too young for fireworks and we're definitely not into celebrating America right now.

I really like Karen Slaughter, but her books are INTENSE! A strawberry festival sounds really fun!

One of my coworkers is having a BBQ today so we are heading over there this afternoon. The rest of the weekend we don't have any major plans.

I was just looking at my goal and increased it to 200. I don't want to jinx, but I think this will be one of my best years for reading.

I listened to all of Out of the Woods (Out, #2) by Hannah Bonam-Young yesterday. Today I started listening to Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle . Still reading Lightspeed Year One by John Joseph Adams Cold Eternity by S.A. Barnes . The boys have gone to the Farmer's Market in a nearby town, one of our friends runs it, so I'm going shower, hit the grocery store, and then do a little cleaning while listening to my audiobook. I'll probably listen to it all today.

We've essentially all been up since 6am. *yawn* Usually I can get Bastien to go back to sleep for a couple more hours when he wakes that early but not this morning. 6am crying, nursing, and diaper change, 6:50am crying and diaper change, 7:15am crying and brought to our bed, 7:30am Ezri started barking because she probably smelled a bear, let her in the bedroom, she jumped on the bed, Bastien and Ezri would not settle, we all got up at 7:50am. 🤦‍♀️

I did listen to all of Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle yesterday. It was wacky but good! I started reading The Lake Escape by Jamie Day this morning, it's a buddy read in my NetGalley ARC group. I may or may not start listening to Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh today. It's going to be 90°F today so we're going to the local lake at some point and spend a few hours there. Leftovers for supper, I will not be turning on my oven today! lol

Also, Bastien slept till almost 9 this morning 💪🏻 with no wake-ups last night. He even slept through 3 rounds of fireworks directly behind our house from 9:30-10pm. I was pissed. 😡 Ezri was upset. We live in a neighborhood and they know their neighbors have small children!

No listening was done yesterday and I didn't finish any books. lol. Didn't do too much reading actually, busy at the lake! Bastien had fun. Today I have started listening to Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh . For some odd reason, I thought this was about a couple abducted by aliens? IDK I think there's a book with a similar cover that I must be thinking of. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We're headed to a splash pad a couple towns over with a bunch of other moms and toddlers so that should be a fun morning. Bastien didn't wake up at all last night and I had the mom-tuition that I needed to get my butt in the shower this morning after Rick left for work, around 7:20, and lo and behold, Bastien woke up as I was finishing up in the bathroom! 😂

I am still trying to cross a couple of last things off my list. This was not one of my more successful readathons though.

Elyse, it sounds like you had a really fun weekend with Bastien! These days go by so fast and there will be plenty of time for reading.
