Hello and Welcome to my book nooks! I'll probably use this for some book yapping and challenge updates! Everyone is welcome to chat here.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──Here's my week 27 update...

5 star read
📖My Friends by Fredrik Backman
A well written book! and an awesome storyteller. This book was bittersweet. It was sad and happy and funny and nostalgic. It leaned more towards fairytale than reality and it had some really good twists even I didn’t see coming. The story revolves around a hurt and lonely young girl and the characters she will meet and the stories she will be told; stories which will shape her future; stories which may have sad endings… or maybe happy ones.
3-4 star reads
📖The Women by Kristin Hannah
As expected of Kristen Hannah another story was well written. But I still loved The Nightingale the most! The storyline & ending became a bit predictable, but I appreciated the realistic depiction of women in the war & the female relationships Frankie made!
I love a book about strong women, especially one written by Kristin Hannah and ESPECIALLY about ones who served our country and were told to their faces that there were “no women in Vietnam”.
📖Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay
As a Filipino myself I can really relate with the culture and other stuff. I really liked this young adult novel about grief, growing up, and going to explore your cultural roots. The book itself was very powerful and empowering. I really love how Jay viewing the world. He was not a saint, like every other main characters in empowering books who always have pure hearts, talking about world peace, sensitive and so kind... just, like saint or angel. As for the plot and what happened with Jun, there was a lot of gray areas, which made it feel realistic. Things aren’t so clear cut which is what happens in real life. I appreciated that approach. Jay is a relatable character, he was judging of course. But, he tried to understand the other. That was made him more human. The "twist" itself was kind of irony and made the book more emotional.
📖Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker
Slow pace at first but when you get the grip it's so good. The themes of racism, trauma, grief, and mental illness seamlessly blend in with the horror elements, and although the later are very well done, the thought-provoking nature of Cora's hardships is, for me, where this book truly shines.
📖Vanishing World by Sayaka Murata
What an ending! Murata really manages to disrupt and disturb, and still, she is always so much fun to read, as she just refrains from categorization - this is no realism, it's a kind of narrative hallucination, as is everything she crafts.

Have you watch Secret of the Wings and Tinkerbell? A Disney movie. The Wings of Starlight is like a prequel to it. A young Queen Clarion and Warden Milori. It's so good! A new book release this year.
