Data Visualization discussion

I was wondering, is it better to do an 'art' course to improve my data visualizations? As they seem to lack the magic I'm looking for - I look at other visualization and mine just done 'wow'? I'm thinking if I start with the 'art' then add in the statistics and other aspects later it will have a better success?

I think it depends? Art does make the visuals look more sexy ;) And while its about the data - people do seem to care too much about the aesthetics of things.

I think the secret of a great, really really great visualization - is you can't forget it - like adverts on tv?
