I don't know what I'm missing but I don't see the tasks that were to be posted Sunday night. Where are those posted?Update: Never mind. lol I see it doesn't start until Sept. 7.
How about one of these three? When you choose, please let the MOD know our choice.Twin Keys
Locksmith Sisters (or other female noun)
Unlocked Minds
🔐 Week 1 Prompt: What You Bring With YouSome locks don’t need a key—they open for what you carry.
Choose a book that reflects something you bring to this partnership:
a personality trait, a past experience, a strength, a flaw—anything that shapes how you read and relate.
Each of you will choose your own book and explain what you're bringing to the box.
• Week: (e.g., Week 1)• Book Title: I See You
• Author: Clare Mackintosh
• Page Count: 386
• Read: 10 Sep 2025
• Reflection: After reading this book, I think I can see that I bring some of the following personality traits to the story that "match" Zoe Walker the best. She is protective and I'm very protective of my family and friends. I also have a cautious streak as does Zoe. I also line up somewhat with Kelly Swift. She's so persistent and has a good sense of justice. I am supportive, loyal, and don't shy away from hard truths when it matters, which is Kelly-like strength. If I have to choose, I'd say I'm a blend of Zoe's protectiveness + Kelly's determination.
IF I understood this task correctly, I bring to this challenge the ability to protect my friends (you) in the way of being as supportive as I can for anything you need support for that I am able/capable of doing. And, I am full of determination, so I won't let you down knowingly. I may make mistakes (forget something) but I will always have your back. I also am 99.9% of the time determined to finish what I started, allowing myself grace under certain circumstances.
I look forward to supporting you throughout this challenge as well as being determined to do the tasks at hand and finish the challenge to the best of my ability.
• Week: 1• Book Title: Wrong Place Wrong Time
• Author: Gillian McAllister
• Page Count: 416
• Reflection:
This task was tough. I guess I bring - loyalty, compromise, a curious nature and an analytical mind. I really liked Jen, the mom fighting to figure out why her son has killed someone in front of her. She handled time travel by breaking it down and trying to figure out the how and why. She was open minded, trying to understand and see all sides - why would her son do this? I could see a lot of myself in Jen.

🗝️ Week 1 Response
This box doesn’t open on its own.
It opened because you showed up as yourself.
What’s one thing from your book you hope your partner always associates with you?
Each unlock is an invitation. What matters now is how you respond and continue the conversation—nothing more is needed.

I guess two things that I would hope you would always associate with me is how loyal and supportive that I am. You and I have built a friendship over a period of 13 years online via Goodreads and I think that we know each other well enough to already know a lot about each other and I am pretty sure you know that I am loyal, at least I hope you know it. And I always support those that I care about and that goes along with my loyalty to them. So I hope you would always see those two things in me.
🔐 Week 2 Prompt: Judge This BookSome locks don’t care what’s inside—only how it looks.
Choose a book based solely on the cover.
No blurbs. No reviews. No second guesses. Just vibes.
Week 2: Judge This Book
author: Tatiana Schlote-Bonne
read: 9/20
Rating: 4 stars
HIF:
You know me, I love horror. This cover is so fun - I just knew I would love this story. I spotted it first on Netgalley and I didn't even care what it was about - just knew it would be horror. So I waited until it was available as an audio and just asked for it! lol Even before I started it, I didn't even know it was about a previous unsolved crime at a camp and then set in now camping! I loved it.
Week 2: Judge This Book
Author: James Patterson
Read: 20 Sep 2025
Rating: 5 stars
HIF: Yes, I definitely know you! And you know me. lol I have to admit that seeing James Patterson helped me to pick this one. I assumed it would be a mystery/thriller just because I've read a lot of his books, and I wasn't let down. I loved it and ended up rating it 5, which I haven't given a lot of 5 stars lately. By the way, I have considered myself a book cover freak, so if I love a cover for whatever reason, I don't care what it's about. I assume I'll like it if I love the cover. I've mostly been right, but a few have let me down.
Sorry for posting this late. I had it read but being in Florida and family came over all day yesterday, I totally forgot to post it. I'll be home Thursday so hopefully that won't happen again.
🔐 Week 3 Prompt: Your Missing PieceSome locks stay closed because something’s missing.
Choose a book that fills a gap in your reading life—something you’ve been avoiding, neglecting, or meaning to try.
Even better if it’s outside your comfort zone.
Vicki wrote: "Week 2: Judge This Book

I love that you see James Patterson's name and want to read it! lol So glad you loved it too! 5 stars - those are rare these days!
I think it's a rare horror book that you don't like! lol And 4 stars for you is a really good book in your estimation, so I'm really glad you enjoyed your book, too. :)
Week 3: Missing Piece
author: Ethan Joella
read: 9/25
Rating: 3 stars
HIF: I've been having fun reading my current and old arcs, avoiding reading a bunch of books that I need to read before the end of the year. For both BOTM ending prize and because they won't count towards my challenge next year - so this is just one of the books I needed to read but I've avoided it since I got it in 2024 because it seemed too light and silly but also emotionally charged in a 'family drama' way - something I don't always love reading. But, I finally picked it up and gave it 3 stars. I flipped it to an audiobook and I liked it!
I hear you, Trisha! I'm so glad that you listened to the audio and that helped you to enjoy/like it more than just reading the text itself. It's good that you're getting so many arcs done this year and I'm honestly proud of you for sticking to your guns! Good for you!
Week 3: Missing Piece
Author: Kristen Ciccarelli
Read: 27 Sep. 2025
Rating: 5 stars
HIF: I have to be honest and say that this isn't completely out of my wheelhouse. I read book 1 and really liked it a lot! But picking up book 2 took me half the year for some reason. Every time I looked at it, I'd think "no, it doesn't fit this or that challenge" or "it's fantasy/witches which is hit and miss with me" so it's kind of like I didn't want it to ruin how much I enjoyed book 1/let me down.
I LOVED it but the end scared me for a minute! I thought it was gong to end in a HUGE cliffhanger but thankfully the author tied up all the loose ends. I'm glad she did because I was about to be so angry! lol

🔐 Week 4 Prompt: Pick a Trope, Any TropeThis lock is a little more dramatic than the others. It wants a twist.
Choose a book with a trope you either love, hate, or can’t stop reading.
Enemies to lovers. Found family. Secret royalty. You know the type.
Your partner has to guess how you feel about it.
Vicki wrote: "Week 3: Missing Piece

YES! I delay books because I'm nervous they will not be as good as I hope all the time too! That's how I'm in this terrible position with my arcs! lol

When I read this on my phone yesterday, I thought I was supposed to give you the trope to read and you were to give me my trope to read based on what we know about each other. lol Darn! I was all ready, too.
🗝️ Week 3 Response
This key slipped into place like it had been waiting for you.
Maybe the stories we resist are the ones we need most.
What did your partner’s choice reveal about what they might be ready for now—even if they weren’t before?

HIF: Trope: locked room murder mystery

I thought I had a perfect answer for it! That'd be cool if you add it.
🗝️ Week 3 Response: What did your partner’s choice reveal about what they might be ready for now—even if they weren’t before?I know that you have been very focused on NetGalley this year, so I understand why you put that one off. I don't think this made you any more "ready" for anything now because you're a very well-read person and know what you like. I was going to say, though, that perhaps you'd be a little more ready to give more family drama books a go but only because I know you like books with more depth (like horror! lol), so perhaps a generational family book.
🔐 Week 4 Prompt: Your partner has to guess how you feel about it.
Trisha, I think that you picked one of your tropes that you enjoy, which is not only a mystery but one that makes you solve it. A locked room murder mystery sounds like a fun read, too. I know you enjoy using your sleuthing skills to unravel a mystery, and it sounds like this one would get you to make a list of suspects, knock them out as you read clues, and make a pretty educated guess and most likely get it right or come really close. lol
🔐 Week 4 Prompt: Pick a Trope, Any Trope
Book: Psycho Killers in Love
Author: C.T. Phipps
Read: 2 October
How it Fits: Trope: Monsters with hearts (enemies to lovers)
🔐 Week 4 Prompt: Your partner has to guess how you feel about it.I think Vicki loves Enemies to lovers trope. She's a fan of romance and, while I don't think it's her favorite trope of romance, I do think she enjoys it - especially if there is witty banter and flirting and a HEA.
Vicki wrote: "Pretty much nailed it! 😊"once you reflect on my Week 4 book - about locked room murder mystery, I'll post our completion!
I had responded to the wrong book, so I fixed it (msg. 36) to go with week 4 task. Let me know if I overlooked anything.I'm putting Week 3's response in msg. 36 also.

Some keys are forged in pattern.
Whether you leaned in or tried to break free, you told us something.
Were you right about how your partner felt about their trope—or totally off?

🔐 Week 5 Prompt: Through Their EyesThe fifth lock is not yours to open alone.
Choose a book that helps you better understand someone else’s perspective—real or fictional, historical or contemporary.
Someone different from you.
you love historical fiction - I think that might be not too bad to find!!I think I'm going to read To the Moon and Back
The genre isn't hard to find, but finding a book that's about someone with a different perspective is what's more difficult to find prior to reading it. I'll figure it out though.
🔐 Week 5 Prompt: Through Their EyesBook: Killer on the Road
Author: Stephen Graham Jones
Read: 10/6
Rating: 3 stars
HIF: Harper is our mc and she is Native American. Her struggles are different than I've experienced and I appreciated reading her pov and having my eyes opened.
