https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Amazon link is there.
Might be better if a librarian adds it instead of risking the author making a mess of it.

This request is only five hours old.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...#Paperback ACE request. I posted links.

Yes, it's the same person requesting these.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Amazon link is there for paperback.
Librarian needs to ask for "Ebook" link (which is probably a Kindle edition.)

Should be flagged to support.
This was frustrating, I'm new to Listopias but wanted to add a series of books which I've read and are missing from a list. Spent 45 minutes trying and failing to get anywhere and actually started writing a request for help to see what I was doing wrong. All I got each time was the swirly "thinking about it" thing. Had to pause to cook breakfast. Came back later tried the exact same thing again and within seconds it was done. Not me being dumb just Goodreads system having a nap and refusing to cooperate... again!
Last week it took 5 attempts over the course of an afternoon to edit a single book title. Other edits worked fine. Annoying.
Message 3Yep, the author added it herself and now a librarian needs to go in and add it correctly and merge her mess before the bot adds a bogus ASIN and people start shelving it. (ASIN is currently missing.)

Tried to sort it but the kindle edition is already here and set as invalid by an admin so needs support to change it: https://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/2...
I kept waiting to see if Jaclyn was going to post a notice on this page about the the new policy. I hate how vague it is in regards to the timeframe:Going forward, any Librarian who is inactive for an extended period will automatically lose their status.

There is way too much vagueness on too many things here.
For instance, the librarian manual. 😒
Extended period could mean any time frame.
Is it a month? 6 months? 1 year? 2 weeks?
I think the wording is deliberately vague so they can oust librarians at will.
Aaarrgghh, WTF is up with GR today? Every edit throws me to a Page Not Found, every response to a topic in Adding New Books gives several screens of pink error message. Kind of mission impossible at the moment. I've reported it to Support but...
Brad wrote: "Aaarrgghh, WTF is up with GR today? "I added a post about this to a thread I started about other glitches over on the Questions page. I added ATTN Jaclyn. We'll see if we get any responses from GR.
It is quite ridiculous just how many issues have started this year.
"Direct messages between individual members will no longer be available."Well, isn't that just lovely?
WTG Goodreads! Nothing like removing an invaluable feature to make more room in the system for Crazy Bot to import countless junk editions, shoes, hats, and sex toys.

I got a reply from Support telling me to clear my cache and to provide exact URLs, what I was doing, what time etc. It's almost every single post and clearly not just me.

Don't forget knitting patterns (I still occasionally work on a topic to remove over 2500 knitting patterns).
Clearly GR don't want us to be sociable or chat to friends, so maybe they'll remove the friends feature next.

And for their next trick... Now I'm seeing quite few posts in the Adding New Books topic with 0 posts. How can they have 0 posts when the OP's request is there? That's 1 post, has always been 1 post, many still are 1 post. Whatever next?https://www.goodreads.com/photo/user/...
The ones showing 1, 3 & 6 posts all have 1, 3 & 6 posts, the ones showing 0 posts all have 1 post.
I really wish that GR would invest some money into properly training their staff. I sent a message to the "Goodreads Experts" asking for the ISBNs to be moved from the Kindle edition to the Ebook edition.
Sent links to both books plus Amazon link to verify.
Expert removed ISBN13 from Kindle edition, left ISBN10 on Kindle edition. Replied "unable to verify ISBNs belong on Ebook."
Just sent another message requesting they correct the mess they made. Restore ISBN13 and place it on Ebook edition, move ISBN10 from Kindle to Ebook.
This time I explained in detail exactly how to verify the Ebook ISBNs on Amazon, which I didn't do in the first message, but my gosh, I sent them the Amazon link, you'd think they would know how to find the Ebook info. I know how to do that and I'm not even a librarian.
Sigh...
I want to vent about something. You know how we have to follow the rules or lose our status? Why don't authors have to abide by them as well?
I keep seeing authors change their names (sometimes to a ridiculous extreme). One author had changed her name 16! times. Support goes back and fixes it. They shouldn't need to. After the second time, she should have been booted from the program. Her first name is lower case. It doesn't matter if, as she claims, that is what her birth certificate says. So her folks couldn't be bothered to follow protocol either. The hubris to believe GoodReads should just make an exception just for them. I always go back to E.E. Cummings. The stylized version of him name has always made my eye twitch. Thankfully, he is capitalized here.
The one that brought this rant today is an author just got verified last week. I had corrected her books for her a few days prior, and merged the two profiles the bots had been using. What did she immediately do after getting power? Remove the periods! Argh.
Does anyone know if there has ever been an author to lose their status?
Yet Bell Hooks gets an exception.I have suggested many times while flagging that they remove that ability from authors, as there is no legitimate reason it should be available to them, but they ignore me.
I am not sure if I have seen an author lose status for it.
Yeah, it's really annoying when we have to follow the rules , or else, and authors can just do their own thing. I just keep changing them and link to the rules until Admin say otherwise. Losing Author status would be great. Some of them post cr*p data anyway and then we have to correct it.
A couple of authors did lose their status in my early days on here. One of them was a notorious pest, who used a computer programme to
Authors contribute to the Goodreads coffers*; Librarians don't.*(when they buy advertising or set up a giveaway)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...I sent a message to support telling them that the Audible ASIN and Audiobook ISBN are both on the same edition above and asked them to separate. Sent them links to verify both the ASIN: B08Y5YBBXV and ISBN: 9781250829900
The reply, "I've taken care of removing the ISBNs from the Audible edition."
An audiobook with the ISBNs was not created.
I've found that the "experts" are clueless as to the terminology used on this site. Words like merge/combine/separate confuse them.
Why is it ok for paid staff to do things that would cause a librarian to lose their status? Why don't they invest some money into training their "experts" or offer some super librarians a job to handle book issues like this?
I'm so very sad to watch this site turn into a sinking ship.
Between Bot Gone Wild and Clueless Employees this site has become the Titanic.
Oh, and don't even get me started on messaging being taken away from us. I guess they need to free up space for the bot to import more "Unknown" junk issues and socks.

Also, a place for questions and discussion.
