Definitely worth it, it is AMAZING. The characters are all really well developed so you immediately get attached to them, the plot is so good, literally edge of your seat, and the CGI is flawless, you can't even tell it's not actual video lol
The show is really intense and gorey though, so if you don't like horror/gore and you're easily disturbed, don't watch it. There's also LGBTQ+ characters and some suggestive content so if you're not comfortable with that then don't watch it. But if you do like those things (like me) you seriously should watch it, I guarantee you'll become invested.

Ok so Stranger Things theory:
Eleven was actually related to the MKULTRA government mind control experiments (which were a real thing, not in the show). She was part of a literal government experiment in the show (which still hasn't been fully explained, that's in S5) where children with special abilities were stolen and raised by the lab and tested on. MKULTRA ended a few years before Stranger Things takes place (I think) but they could still be related, I mean other tests still took place after MKULTRA was revealed irl. In the show, when Hopper is doing research about the Hawkins National Lab because he's suspicious about a possible government coverup for the missing kid (Will), he finds a newspaper clip about MKULTRA showing kids in hospital gowns exactly like Eleven and the other kids with her. They don't elaborate on that, except Hopper shows his police partner the photo when bringing up the potential government coverup.
Just a random thought lol

GUYS I'M STUPID THAT ACTUALLY WAS ELABORATED ON!! I'm rewatching the series and turns out I missed something really important.
Spoiler alert:
Okay so when Hopper and Joyce found out about Terry Ives and her missing child and visited her, her sister confirms that Terry was part of the MKULTRA tests (consensually, unlike most test subjects). They gave her a bunch of drugs and put her in a sensory deprivation tank. So it's confirmed that these government tests definitely played a role in at least Eleven's mom's life, and probably Eleven's too.
While Terry was being tested on, she didn't realize that she was pregnant. In her third trimester (I'm unsure of the timeline of this and the tests) she was taken to the hospital and apparently miscarried the child, according to all of the doctors, and there's no record or evidence of the child surviving. But Terry continues to claim that her child survived and wasn't miscarried, and she claimed that the child had abilities and was stolen from her. The government takes Terry and fries her brain so she can't keep spreading these stories, and she turns into a vegetative state, unable to communicate and only repeating the same phrase over and over. This state is blamed on the MKULTRA tests, which her family was aware of, and no one dug deeper.
But Hopper realizes this was likely a coverup for something and that Terry's child is probably still out there, which obviously we know because she is Eleven.
So yeah I knew all this before but in my previous watching, I never made the connection of MKULTRA (because I only learned about them irl after I watched the show the first time).
Anyway that's my rant bye

Okay so I love Jonathan, not Nancy. She's a strong female figure but she's a little too rash and self-centered. I LOVE Jonathan though and I will bawl my eyes out if he dies, plus Will does not deserve to lose his brother
@Barnette 100% agreed, i'm praying that jonathan doesn't die in the new season bc i will smash my tv i'm not even kidding you

Yeah, the first seasons are rated by Netflix as 13+ or 14+, parental guidance is definitely recommended for season 4, and season 5 is mature
