Desmond Knipe | 2 comments So many great books explore humanity’s place in the cosmos, but I’ve noticed some dive into the idea of hidden knowledge or universal energy as well. I find it exciting when characters uncover truths about consciousness or unseen forces that shape reality—it gives a whole other dimension to the story. Does anyone here have a favourite novel where the metaphysical is as important as the technology?

Aaron | 2 comments If you're interested in hard science non fiction on this, check out Cosmosapiens by John Hands. I read and reviewed it last month. A tough but educating read precisely on humanity's place in the cosmos.

Soren Blackwood | 31 comments Desmond, that is a brilliant and essential question. It gets to the heart of what makes the most powerful speculative fiction so resonant.

The idea that the metaphysical is as important as the technology is the central pillar of my own debut sci-fi novel, The Sentinel Project.

The story explores a "technology" that isn't just external hardware of circuits and steel, but is an ancient global network powered by human consciousness and accessed through genetic memory. In this world, the metaphysical isn't just a theme; it's the operating system.

Thank you for starting such a great conversation. It's a topic that deserves much more exploration.
