So my idea of horror is classified by Book Riot as "horror for wimps". A few days ago I learned that Edith Wharton wrote short stories that are classified as "horror" and I was intrigued. (I'm assuming it's for wimps.)For fiction: The Ghost Stories of Edith Wharton by Edith Wharton
I can lead
For nonfiction: Falling Back in Love with Being Human: Letters to Lost Souls by Kai Cheng Thom

I think we wanna say "an author who identifies as a woman" rather than "female" yes? To mean their gender identity and not what may be recognized as their sex/biological sex assigned at birth. And yes, I'm here for horror for wimps please. I will likely be back with some nominations too :)
For nonfiction, I nominate Jane Austen's Bookshelf: A Rare Book Collector's Quest to Find the Women Writers Who Shaped a Legend by Rebecca Romney

Oh, BTW just discovered NYRB also has a version of The Ghost Stories of Edith Wharton with slightly different title: Ghosts. I tend to love their covers :) And perhaps helpful to know you can search either and get the same content.
