WEEKLY CHECK-IN
August 27, 2025 -- Week 35

Do you ever re-read books? Why or why not? If yes, which book have you re-read the most?

message 2: by Ashtyn (new)

Ashtyn | 50 comments I usually only re-read books that I absolutely love. The Percy Jackson series is the one I've read the most times at a solid eight readthroughs. I am wanting to try re-reading some books to give them a second chance, though. Specifically the Raven Cycle

message 3: by Holly (new)

Holly Koster (howieann) | 156 comments I do re-read some books. Right now, I'm working my way through a few of my favorite authors' books again. The Anne of Green Gables series is probably one I go back to the most often.

message 4: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 606 comments My TBR list has gotten so big, that lately any books I re-read are for my book clubs that choose books that I've read on my own first.

message 5: by Sherene (new)

Sherene Levert | 7 comments I will typically on do a re-read if a new book in the serious is coming out and I want to re familiarize myself with the story or if there is a read along and discussion on a book a really enjoy

message 6: by Kathi (new)

Kathi | 194 comments I rarely re-read; usually only if I started a series which was unfinished. After the author has finished it, I re-read the books I had previously read before reading the rest of the series. (And now I really try to only read series that I’m pretty sure are finished!)

Exceptions would be The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

message 7: by Carol (new)

Carol (cquan01) | 629 comments I rarely reread books. I. A barely keep up with all of the books on my shelves. I reread Catcher in the Rye last year for one of the prompts. I hadn’t read it since I was a teenager so thought it would be interesting to reread it now.

I re-read things for comfort, or if I need to re-experience the journey. Like Little House on the Prairie, The Secret Garden, The Starless Sea, or The Cruel Prince

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna (annafrommontana) | 467 comments I re-read books but not often. most often it is a classic that I want to read again. Sometimes it is a series that I have stopped and now want to continue but need to reread the first books.

Hilde Helseth | 286 comments I have some favourites that I re-read, just in June I started re-reading 9 books by Jan Broberg since I have a 10th I haven't read yet. 2 are about fantasy, one horror, one different literary persons, and 5 of people or places in history. The one I haven't read yet, Äventyr i flydda tider: historisk underhållning från Jean M. Auel till Herman Wouk is about historical novels. The first time I read them, I borrowed them at the library, for the first re-read I got my own copies, and Äventyr i flydda tider: historisk underhållning från Jean M. Auel till Herman Wouk I bought straight away.

Other favourites are Inabøkene by Annik Saxegaard, a series of 12 books about Ina as a teen untill she gets married in the last book. I got book 10 Ina stepper inn as a present, and found book 4 Ina inviterer at my local library. The rest I borrowed from realtives and bought my own copies. I have read each book at least 3 times, but the last time was in 1995, but I have them all on my shelf.

Margit Sandemo is another favourite, several of her series - Sagaen om Isfolket www.goodreads.com/series/45642-sagaen...,
Heksemesteren www.goodreads.com/series/47045-h-xm-s...,
Lysets rike www.goodreads.com/series/46974-legend... have I all read, of De svarte ridderne www.goodreads.com/series/46969-de-sva... have I read the two first and the rest is in my TBR books. I also got all 11 books of Trollruner www.goodreads.com/series/45666-trollr... and have read the first out of 3 of Historien om en fjelldal www.goodreads.com/series/277063-histo...

I also have a few single novels by her that I re-read: Kongekronen, Fabians brud, Piken med sølvhåret & Grav under høstløv

message 11: by Denise (new)

Denise | 648 comments I re-read books I really loved, usually due to the language/writing, or I re-read classics. Ion the case of classics, I feel like as I get older I find things in them I missed the first time I read them when I was younger. Sometimes its a classic i love that I re-read...I lost track of how many times I've read Little Women and Pride and Prejudice

message 14: by Hilde (new)

Hilde Helseth | 286 comments I also intend to re-read some books by André Bjerke / Bernhard Borge after reading his biography earlier.

message 15: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Davidson | 115 comments Before I owned many books (as a youngun’) I reread Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis a few times.
Now, I own so many books, many yet to be read, that I rarely reread any - although there is the occasional one I could enjoy again.

message 16: by Sharan (new)

Sharan King | 110 comments I have many books on my shelf - this year I made a promise to read some of the classics again and thankfully they have fell into many of the 52 book challenge so I have enjoyed this as my books are well loved. The last one is the Christmas Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol. I shall love re reading.

Lilijana ᓚᘏᗢ | 68 comments This year, I reread Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights because I felt I had forgotten most of them. I want to do the same with Alice in Wonderland and Sense & Sensibility. But it's not something I usually do because I'm trying (and failing) to catch up with my tbr pile.
