Nikki learns that Maggie paid Eddie Nelson, a family court reporter, to alter Dana’s drug test. His sister Ava Roe is a lab technician at the laboratory that processed Dana’s drug test. When Nikki and Liam go there to confront Ava, they alert one of her co-conspirators in the process and both manage to elude them. Should they have considered that Ava would need to have had help? Could they have handled this differently?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments This entire episode was just bad police work.
Allowing Sara to warn Ava, allowing Ava to stab her boss and escape, and Eddie catching Niki unaware) is unprofessional. Nikki is an FBI agent with some of the best training in the world, and Eddie was able to beat her almost senseless?

Robin (robinmy) | 2454 comments Since Ava was a lab tech, I didn't think she would need any help at switching Dana's drug test. She could either switch it with someone else's test, or enter the wrong information into the system. If someone had discovered that the test was incorrect, she could have said "oops". Now that I think about it, they probably have a system of checks and balances that would eliminate entering the wrong information.

Moondance (moondance120) | 28 comments I'm not sure I would have shared all of the information with Sara. Although, I had no reason to suspect her at the time. I agree that the information should have only been given to someone higher in the organization.

And I thought it was just me. The protocol in labs is so stringent that one person can’t pull this off, unless it’s the person at the top of the food chain who has override capabilities.

This was a mess and they should have accounted for it. Nikki’s an FBI agent and knows how their own lab works. Once they’d secured Ava, no way should they have left her alone.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Jonetta, I agree with you, but there was a recent documentary about a lab that didn't follow protocols because they were short staffed and management trusted everyone. It does happen. I thought it was a small town phenomenon.

A recipe for legal disaster. They could be discredited in a trial.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments I agree with you. In real life the lawyers would be lining up to have their old cases thrown out.
