So as we head back to school lets look at some teachers from fiction and history. Some are good and some not so good.

1. Mr Chipping
Mr Chipping is a beloved school teacher, who has a long tenure at Brookfield School, a fictional minor British boys' public boarding school located in the fictional village of Brookfield in the Fenlands. Mr Chips, as the boys call him, is conventional in his beliefs and exercises firm discipline in the classroom.

Miss Trunchbull is depicted as an unwholesome role model, a fierce tyrannical monster who "frightened the life out of pupils and teachers alike", notorious for her cruel and wildly idiosyncratic discipline, with trivial misdeeds.

Miss Honey was a well loved teacher towards all of her students. She became especially interested in her newest student Matilda Wormwood because of her smart brain and love of books.

5. Mr Ricky Braithwaite
Ricky Braithwaite is a black engineer from British Guiana who has worked in an oil refinery in Aruba. Coming to Britain just before the outbreak of World War II, he joins the RAF and is assigned to aircrew. Demobbed in 1945, he is unable to find work despite his qualifications and experience due to racism. He takes a job as a teacher. Most of the pupils in his class are unmotivated to learn, and are only semi-literate and semi-articulate. He persists despite their unresponsiveness to his approach.

6. Minerva McGonagall
Professor Minerva McGonagall is a fictional character in the Harry Potter series of novels by J. K. Rowling. McGonagall is the Transfiguration professor.

10. Glen Holland

11. Jaime A. Escalante
Jaime Alfonso Escalante Gutiérrez (December 31, 1930 – March 30, 2010) was a Bolivian-American educator known for teaching students calculus from 1974 to 1991 at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. Escalante was the subject of the 1988 film Stand and Deliver, in which he is portrayed by Edward James Olmos.

Known for his gardening, strict but loving demeanor, and memorable life lessons.

Professor Severus Snape is a complex, morally gray character in J.K. Soon after graduation at age 20, she became a teacher to Keller.
