Please know that an essay needs to be insightful, it's not just a review 2.0 summarising the events of the book. The criteria for an essay qualification is stricter than say, fanfiction or moodboard, where as long as it resembles the book, it's fine, because the point is to encourage.

I’m pretty sure that if it’s been more than 3 months since you read it, you can reread and count it as if you were reading it for the first time
I don’t believe that you can just do the extra prompts without reading it in this month’s period but, I could be wrong

I've only read the first chapter so far but I'm not sure how I'm feeling, I'm definitely not loving it though

It takes time yeah. If it doesn't grab you by 5, quit it.

It wasn't amazing but it did end up invested and that last sentence has tempted me to maybe read the next book

Welcome to the month of July! The book chosen this month is A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. Here's the synopsis for it:
This book is admittedly not for everyone, but if you do happen to make it past page 60, I think you'll have a good time.
Please keep this topic discussion relevant to the book at hand.
The book in second place is The Magnificence of Death by Rhea Rainwater. While you will only receive double points (upon logging) if you decide to read this, the second place book can be used to fulfill the ‘creativity’ prompts instead of the first. Note that you can only receive prompt points once unless stated otherwise.
● Finish the chosen book: +5
● Review over 100 words excluding quotes: +5
● Review over 500 words excluding quotes: +10
● Make a moodboard of the book (min. 3×3): +5
● Write an essay analysing and explaining the themes of the book (500+ words): +20
● Draw fanart of the first or second place book: +10, regardless of amount
● Write a poem based on the book (min. 50 words): +12, regardless of amount
● Write fanfiction based on the book: anything that comes to mind!: +5 every 250 words, until 20 Points. 2k words is worth 25, 5k is 30 and 10k is 40.
● (If you liked the book) Send fanmail in the form of an email to the author (min. 100 words): +10
● Longest Review: +10, one person
The prompts 5th to 9th can be—as stated above—used for either book. You can do it for both books, but you will only receive points worth for one.
If you have any ideas for prompts, please do suggest. You will be given five points if your prompt gets implemented.
The person with the most points earned at the end of the month gets to deduct -25 Points from a team of their choice.
If you have any questions, you can ask here. With that being stated, enjoy reading!
