I love the way you start our month's with a beautiful poem that brings up images of joy. Thanks, Magdelanye.
I am continuing to read the second book of the Chronicles of St Mary's series, A Symphony of Echoes. I'm enjoying it as much as the first book, Just One Damned Thing After Another. Lots of snarky humour and wacky situations, yet it fits together as a cohesive story. Fun reading.
thanks Petra. In fact, there were a couple more stanzas that got clipped. The chronicles as you have described it sounds like something i need: snarky and wacky and fun.
I forget to mention I finally got to another Matt Ruff and it was pretty amazing. Working on my review now.
I look forward to reading the review. I've still got a couple of his books to read yet. Something to look forward to. I'm really enjoying the Chronicles.
I finished listening to the audio version of All That Moves Us: A Pediatric Neurosurgeon, His Young Patients, and Their Stories of Grace and Resilience. It's a very compassionate, empathetic memoir of Dr. Wellons career as a neurosurgeon.
Just investigatedjodi taylor and she sounds so interesting. However, none of her books are listed at PRL (local library) Will see if I can special order
I hope you can get a special order, Magdelanye. My library has a copy of Just One Damned Thing After Another (currently available). Not sure whether you can special order from that far away.
oops...there seems to be a few different systems. If you're on the same system it doesnt matter how far away, it's possible to e
LOL....bus rides are fun, aren't they? Of course a Fall Fair takes priority. That would be a fun day.
I hope you can find a copy of the book.
I'm almost finished A Symphony of Echoes and enjoying it a lot. I haven't had a lot of reading time lately and am itching to get back to the story.
What's everyone reading now?
Do you have volume 3 lined up? Sounds like the kind of book you want to carry on.I am reading Solenoid by Mircea Cărtărescu It's the kind of book that takes over. I know the feeling we'll, when one is itching to be reading but called away by life. I almost quit back on page 247 or thereabouts because there's some really unpleasant parts, but overall it is an exquisitely written masterpiece.
The other book I'm reading, curiously, nothing at all to suggest that there would be so many crossover thoughts, ideas, and even a few similar incidents. This is a book I picked up with a lot of reservations, but it seems necessary to read it before I make up my own mind on the intentions of the author. Jordan B. Peterson is not someone I'm attracted to but his 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos is more interesting than I thought it might be.
Now would be a good time for Ellen to chime in!
Ice Bear, what about you?
Today the entire coast from Saltery Bay to Lund is under a shut down, no electricity or water from 7 this morning until 7 tonight.I have a cooler full of stuff from the fridge.
It feels odd but nice.
I got the first volume of the Jodi Taylor on order at last.
I survived the reading of Solenoid AND
12 Rules for Life.
