Linda Martin (lindajm) | 132 comments August reading reports..!!

I'm starting this thread just to report I finished reading only one book during August, so it is my best, worst, and surprise all in one.

Truman, by David McCullough

Best - It was amazing to read about what a well-grounded and humble man he was. He was a Christian.

Worst - It was nearly 1000 pages (the readable text section of the book) and took a long time to read. I decided to focus almost all my reading efforts on finishing this book in August.

Surprise - Truman was President during an important time in USA history. He was the one who had to decide whether to use the atomic bomb to try to stop World War II and to avoid a foot-soldier invasion of Japan. He did that by estimating the cost in human lives with each strategy. He was also the President who helped the Jewish people to return to Palestine in 1947. There were other things he did that I remember my father talking about. Truman was President when my father was a young man. It is an eye-opening history book worth reading.

Ian | 93 comments Best: The Astronaut's Wife by Stacey Morgan describes how she and her husband survive as he goes into space and she deals with the kids, church, and her sanity. For Christian Living

Worse: The Monster and the Mirror by K J Aiello is part SJW rant, part Literary analysis with 1 source in the entire book and giant spoilers, part biography of who ever this is.... I was hoping it was a general fantasy but was bad. For the Biography part...

Surprise Christianity by Elizabeth Andrews is a kids book about the faith... I was shocked at her list of the 10 Commandments... apparently Augustine had a different list than I have memorized.
