Rowan | 520 comments Yes, sometimes

𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂 🍂 .° ꩜ | 85 comments it really depends on the cover and reviews. but tbh yes lol

Katniss Everdeen | 605 comments When I see a pretty cover I’m like “I must have!” I know your not supposed to...but... I mean come on who doesn’t?

message 8: by Benji (new)

Benji | 190 comments I think everyone does. You look at the quality, the structure, the way it's dressed, the blurbs, the passages, all sub~context.

The pages if used, tan, ripped, stained with grime. The history of its other users. The way it's bent, scared as if abused. The flips of hand~written scripts speaking like hidden tattoos. Something like a bond between me & you (Book & Reader).

But it's really the imagery & color codes that draws someone in.
That picture that's showcased. . . Is what they want the world to see.
But in so many scriptures mask much more sinister themes.

Yet it all starts with the cover. Before we start to read its other signs. Oddly the pages I've of books I read in my life all had scars. Not all visible to the eye. Sometimes you have to peel past the surface & really understand that why!
(Why it was written & for whom could it help.)

message 9: by Savera (new)

Savera Hota (saverahota) | 90 comments I completely judge a book by its cover. Sure, the author gets 100% of the credit when it comes to someone enjoying a book but when the designers relay the story’s vision through the cover - that needs appreciation too. The cover attracts me first, then the title, then the blurb. And of course if it’s an author I love, that’s the whole different thing.

message 10: by Bluestocking (new)

Bluestocking | 28 comments Blurb, that's the deciding factor for me. But, yeah if it's a good cover I'll read the blurb.

message 11: by Gabriella୨ৎ (new)

Gabriella୨ৎ | 86 comments i always fall for the pretty covers. 90% of the time i've enjoyed them, but there have been a few books that i read that were only that, a pretty cover. if i'm being honest, i never really read a blurb. if i see someone i'm friends with or follow that like it, then it's instantly on my tbr.

Bethan (Kai Azer's Version) | 119 comments yes
if a book has a cool cover it makes me interested in it so I look up the blurb
also I'm not buying a book with a real person on the cover so I 100% judge it

message 13: by mariya (new)

mariya (mariya_aa) | 85 comments Yes. I can’t stand books w real people on it idky, esp faces
I love a beautiful cover tho like yes pull me in to find out more

message 14: by prisha (new)

prisha (reionise) | 23 comments Yes 100%

claire le kandi kid is on a semi hiatus | 518 comments yes
yes i do
if someone recommended it to me and it has a crap cover ill still try it
but it needs a good cover to draw my eye

message 16: by anai ♡ (new)

anai ♡ | 185 comments yes and no
i gravitate towards cute covers BUT im not put off by “ugly” covers (like half-naked men) bc it’s what’s on the inside that counts or wtv 🙄

†♡✧Aliza✧♡† (alizadawson) ABSOLUTELY I mean it's usually the cover and title that grab my attention so I see one that's like WAY to much I'm like: that one it gonna get so annoying
and I see one that's like so cheap I'm like: how did that even get published
so yeah I definitely do. and I'm not really ashamed of it😂

Ali | 79 comments Yes

message 19: by Dragon Queen (new)

Dragon Queen I like to say that that quote works for everything but books, yes judge your books by their covers but not everything else. It's honestly not a good way to describe not judging people because (I feel like) every book obsessed person judges the cover of their books.

⋆✿Grace✿⋆ | 482 comments Yes, especially if they have real people on them. I refuse to read a book with a half dressed man on the cover, it just isn’t “cool” or “hot” bro 😭

message 21: by emilia ♡ (new)

emilia ♡ (ailimedaerna) | 43 comments yesss always 100%

~ Olimpia_Vannya ~ (semi-hiatus) | 122 comments Not really, the only thing I do regarding a book, is not wanting real people on the covers, other that than as I am pretty easy to like a cover (I'm easy like if I find a great cover it could be the simplest one I will like it and buy it 😂)

message 23: by Zehra (new)

Zehra Nur | 1 comments “Of course, I judge a book by its cover. Every book carries its own energy, and even the colors on the cover should have meaning. As a graphic designer, I find it almost insane when this is ignored. Especially in fantasy books, using outdated human photos—like ones from 2009—just doesn’t work. The cover matters, and it’s absolutely important.”

message 24: by sara (new)

sara *☆~ | 255 comments yes.

message 25: by Nuisto (new)

Nuisto | 27 comments I highly value the teamwork between author and artist. I will 100% judge a book by it's cover.

The cover gives the first impression of a book, it's vibe and themes. It gives the title more context. Based off of that first impression, I'll look at the blurb and see if it's something I am interested in. Then I'll look at the font size on the inside.

There's ofcourse a few exceptions to the cover -> blurb flow, sometimes I already know what a book is about before I see the cover. There's one thing every book gets though: a thorough scan of the coverart: I'll be damned if I read a book with an AI-generated cover.

message 26: by annabelle (new)

annabelle | 623 comments okay so i always always judge by the covers. if the cover is ugly, i don't want it. i'll pay more money for cuter covers lols

Cortlan!! matching w gems and emmy | 50 comments if the cover is bright and fun, then yea, I'll grab it. I might not read it, but I'll def look at it.

message 28: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Xx | 180 comments Yes but I'll also consider the blurb. Like how the book looks is important but so is the blurb. If I like the blurb but it's ugly ill still read it and vise versa

sadie | seth, kenji, jisung's version | 27 comments Oml yes i do 😂😂😂

message 30: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Pierce | 2 comments Yes 🙂

message 31: by Aurora Jade (AJ) (new)

Aurora Jade (AJ) I do but mainly only if it has a real person on the cover because that needs to stop. NO REAL PEOPLE ON COVERS PETITION

⋆✿Grace✿⋆ | 482 comments Aurora Jade (AJ) wrote: "I do but mainly only if it has a real person on the cover because that needs to stop. NO REAL PEOPLE ON COVERS PETITION"

I second that

message 33: by Nik (new)

Nik Vesely✨ | 232 comments Somewhat. I LOATHE real people on the covers and it also depends on the reviews it gets.

message 34: by Grace (new)

Grace (g_reviewer16) | 31 comments If there's real people on the cover yes. But I still read the synopsis and then try to see if there's a different edition to purchase 🤪

Yes!! I do the same thing!

message 38: by Aleksandra (new)

Aleksandra (avaleva38) | 128 comments depends. i NEVER buy books with real people on the cover, but i sometimes still get them from the library, but it depends on the reviews.
and i've bought books just because their covers are pretty (still ended up liking them)

message 39: by Beatriz (new)

Beatriz Vicente | 5 comments Unfortunately yes! The cover pulls me in every time but it is the content that makes me stay and read it. If the cover is a 10/10 but the story and the writing style are not up to par I will most likely DNF.

V3NUS_ (AKA olivia) (hanakothegreat) | 474 comments yes. I do

message 41: by Steffi Nicole (new)

Steffi Nicole | 6 comments I am a sucker for a pretty cover!

message 42: by Camille (new)

Camille | 4 comments TBH, first the title caught my attention, then I check the cover. I like beautiful illustrations as covers, unfortunately in my country (except the fantasy one), they are plain and simple.
In the end it’s the reviews that make me buy the book, or not !

⋆˚✿˖° ZP ⋆˚✿˖° | 24 comments yesss 🫣 it’s what catches my attention first! i’ll always read the description, but a pretty cover will draw me in!

message 44: by Advika (new)

Advika Maheshwari | 8 comments I love pretty covers, the titles attract me a lot. But I would never buy a book without reading the description at the back.

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah ✧.* (cornishpixies) | 5 comments Y E S
I will also only buy certain editions depending on the cover.

౨ৎ 🎧⋆。˚ 𝒮ℴ𝒶𝓅 ♡₊˚📖・₊✧ | 33 comments IS THAT A QUESTION? Absolutely YES. But it also depends cause ex:icebreaker. The cover looks really sweet and innocent until you actually READ it😬

message 47: by Shade (new)

Shade | 5 comments Never. I can't. I'm visually impaired, so I couldn't really care less about the cover of a book. It's what's inside that matters to me.

message 48: by Celia (new)

Celia (red4501) | 12 comments Absolutely! I don't hold a high regard for covers but if it's horrendous, my inner critic rises up from the dead.

message 49: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Brudnicki | 174 comments Yes, most of the time.
