RachelG. | 1466 comments I am really curious to see what others think of this book. I started it last night and I am baffled, confused and just plain don't really get it. All the view points are too short for me to get a good sense of what the overall picture is. I am currently 35% in.

RachelG. | 1466 comments At around 50% it seems like we are going to start seeing how the various viewpoints come together and get a bigger picture. These types of stories are not my favorite and I kind of wish I had known ahead of time.

Nirkatze | 22146 comments I'll probably jump into this tomorrow... trying to decide if I want to do audio or eye. I do like varied POV puzzles, especially forewarned-forearmed...

RachelG. | 1466 comments I would have switched to audio if that had been an option but eye read was all the library had available.

Finished: (view spoiler)

I'm about 30% in right now and really enjoying... so far it seems like it's a found-family safe-place story, getting a bunch of random characters' backstories on why they ran off to join the circus Hotel. Actually getting some nostalgia digs out of me. I worked as a concierge at a hotel for several summers. Also kind of making me think of A Gentleman in Moscow, though mostly for setting and cozy vibes.

But just meandering so far. No idea when the Plot will kick in, or what it will look like.

I read Floating Hotel tonight... Early chapters reminded me of Closed and Common Orbit... Heavy slice of life with little seeable direction... But it slowly came together and had darker moments...

Ending didn't really build much momentum for me, but I enjoyed it overall...

Nirkatze | 22146 comments I finished yesterday and was surprised when it took a turn into (view spoiler)

It's funny... the tonal mismatch made me keep forgetting (view spoiler)... so it felt like a repeated shock, every time it came up...

Nirkatze | 22146 comments Exactly! Sometimes it felt a bit... Dada-esque? Absurdist humor not quite in the scene.
