1. By the end of the book, how do you think Amy’s journey and the decisions she makes affect her sense of identity and her role in the ward? Has she changed?

2. How does the final revelation about Will reshape your understanding of his character? Do you feel his actions were justified, or were they manipulative?

3. Do you think Amy’s final actions in relation to Will are ethically sound, or does she cross a moral line? How would you have handled the situation differently?

4. In the final chapters, how do the concepts of control and freedom play out for both the patients and the staff? Does the ending offer any resolution on these themes?

I returned my Ward D a while ago. So, I can give an overall synopsis better than I can answer chapter by chapter. 1. We are most likely all a little “crazy.” It’s a terrible word and a stigma placed on mental health. Who better to understand psychiatric pts than someone who has overcome their own issues and achieved much in their life? Amy, did not want to do psychiatric care. She wanted to distance herself to hide her own struggles and past.

I read the book quickly. It felt intense at times. The ending was a surprise. It was a good book.
