I enjoyed this book, but also the Mystery/Thriller is my jam. I am excited to see what y'all think about this book!

I didn't get an ARC like you, but I'm hopeful my libby stalking will pay off and that I can grab a copy on Tuesday!

I have the arc but haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m on vacation for the next two weeks so I’ll have to do audio!!

you know me... all audio, all day! Although I'll have you know I finished an eye read yesterday! As rare as that is!

Woohoo! I was able to get a copy of the audio today. I have a few other books I need to get to before this one. I’ll report in once I start it.

I'm hoping to get to this one maybe this weekend.

I have not started it yet, but I'm hoping to soon. I do still have it out on libby for another week and a half.. so the clock is ticking!

I'm finally starting this one! Some initial thoughts as I listened to the Prologue:

I hear it's going to include psychopaths, and I'm all in!!

I have managed to go into this one fairly blind, so I'm excited to see what happens!

Chapter 9

So... the story is interesting, but a tad dry but the one narrator is boring. Once I can sit & have dedicated listening time, I'll likely kick up the speed.

My brain still finds issue with tying how the "dating app" linked or fed into a psychopath detection test. I know it's a fundamental thing I'm supposed to buy into, and should have early on. But, I still struggle with the concept a bit. Is it just me?

Ok, I finished... some of my final thoughts

First, my rating - 3.75. I wanted to love this one. On paper, based on the description, I should have. Even the setup, it should have worked for me. I've liked other books by this author. But it just missed the mark for me for a few reasons.

First, it was a bit dry. But maybe that was in part because of the narrator (the male one).

While I love a good popcorn thriller, which this I think meant to be, it missed the mark a bit for me. I guess this one had an intriguing concept, but lacked complex characters, any character growth, or really any depth in the story. And for the ending to work, I had to suspend some belief.

I'll still try more from him in the future.

I really thought you would like it more! I did enjoy it and it was a fast read for me. I will look for more books from him!

To be fair, sometimes my mood can heavily influence how a book will land with me when UK accents are involved. My first book by him, The Retreat, has been my favorite so far. Very sold 4 stars.

I think I am glad I am not a mood reader! I just read anything and just about everything!

I’m using the app and it has all the spoiler comments removed (no ability to click in and see). I can’t respond to messages either. I’ll get to the desktop site at some point.
I listened to 3/4 on the flight home. I agree with D that the male narrator is super dry. I’m finding it kind of dry- a take on “And then there were none” as we go through hour by hour/person by person, with the back and forth timeline too, until we get to the final reveal(s).
There’s still time for me to be impressed but it’s been a 3.5 star story for me. A good ending might bump it up!
