But one reason I love to write, is because I hate to talk lol. So, I have no friends, no one knows I exist except some coworkers, everything is virtual and I do not want my MOM to be my biggest fan so even she doesn't know. No one will know I've published anything unless I...communicate (shivers). So, when you have the time and you want to laugh but also be a bit freaked out, then go check out my books, and I have so much more to come. My writing style is concise and curt, my genre is often weird reality with absurd/surreal, quirky vibes (was it a fever dream, a nightmare, an alternate universe, or the truth if you look close enough...?), and I notice there's always an anti-villain/anti-hero, amateur sleuths, and I often have a tough female lead, and a ragtag cast of characters. My stories will often be raw or satirical commentary on dark realities.
My first book was a writing challenge I joined in an online community at the top of last year, to write 8 chapters of a certain length in one month. I felt my story about two best young-millennial friends struggling in NYC called Gen-Zennials (click my author page for all versions!) was in the end "too good" for that community, no offense (I'm sure we novice authors have joined shady pyramid-schemey or AI training communities before-this community was both), and I created an Amazon Author page to give my baby girl a real home. I did tons of promo, made a beat, got 1k views on tiktok and many on Youtube (that's a lot for me, a nobody lol) so then I got confidence and published a SECOND book called Truth or Dare (sequel is underway) about misfit high school dropouts getting into danger during a joyride through Ocean City, MD on Senior Week night! I am fully confident in this book to be a fun and unique read for any soul that discovers it. However, there are no chapters because I want the drama to seem exhausting and endless for the reader because it is for the characters; I want you to feel like "is this ever going to end?!" because that's how they feel so there is no outline or table of contents, and I am not changing my writing style; I will find my People who understand it. But go check it out and see if you're one of my People lol.
And earlier this week I finished my third release, L.E.S. (acronym for the Lower East Side, an iconic neighborhood in NYC full of skaters, punks, graffiti, bars, tenement apartments, and wild raves--these days I still hang out there but it's a bit tame and collegiate and hipster now, and disappointing). So while wandering BORED around the Village one night, I joked/hoped to myself: wouldn't it be funny if, like, I walked into an abandoned warehouse and found a cellar and there was a rave in the tunnel somewhere hosted by a cult and I just lived down there forever?...
Anyway, L.E.S. is a trippy, surreal, dark ride down memory lane with some suspense about a grungy female skater teen from 2000s NYC who ends up in a zany rabbit hole exploring the underworld while looking for her lost little sister, and basically, after asking for directions from clubbers, goths, skaters, DJ's, the pizzaman, gangs, drag queens, and you name it, she ends up in a sick cult lol. It's up to you whether you find it scary, funny, hot, or totally relatable and normal...
