TCF's The Gratitude Game
>
Grateful Story Seekers (team 6)

How the game works:
* Each week one player on each team rolls two dice.
https://www.random.org/dice/?num=2
* Using die 1 for the row and die 2 for the column, find the intersection on the grid.
Example: if you roll a 3 and a 2, move down the Rows to #3, and scan across for #2 on that Row. It is "Name a book you are thankful for"
* Read a book for the task in that intersection. As easy as that.
* Each book read during the week receives one (1) point for the team.
* Your book will receive an extra point if 'gratitude' or 'grateful' is in the text.
The team with the most points wins.
A team can only read the task in a certain box once. If you roll the exact numbers (in the same order) from a previous week, you must re-roll the dice for a different task.
Because the picture is difficult to read, all boxes are listed below with their tasks.
Row 1:
1) Name a friend you are grateful for - read a book from a teammate's Goodreads shelf
2) +2 points - read a book with '2' in the page count or publication date; your team gains 2 points

4) Name a holiday you are thankful for - read a book centered around or about a holiday
5) -1 point - read any book you'd like; your team loses 1 point
6) Share an activity you are grateful for - read a book with an action verb in the title

To do list -
First of all, pick a name for your group.
Second, decide who will roll the dice.
Third, decide who will make the team's Completion Posts. (It can be one person, or you can take turns. The team's Completion Post can be posted as soon as everyone has reported. Please have your team's Completion Post in by Monday around noontime.)
Fourth, decide who will be the team's verifier. I need someone to make sure that a book fits the task for the week. In a few instances, you will have to take the word of the reader that a book matches the task, but if it's a tag, cover, title, author initial, page count or publication date, those are verifiable.
Fifth, practice counting all that you are grateful for. There will be a lot!!!

I'm awful at coming up with team names - does anyone have any ideas?

I asked AI for help with team name suggestions and here is what it came up with
Grateful Readers Guild – Reflects the gratitude focus and a love for books.
Thankful Page Turners – Combines the idea of gratitude with avid reading.
Book Blessings Brigade – Suggests books as a source of joy and thankfulness.
Gratitude Book Bunch – Simple and ties directly to the challenge’s theme.
Thankful Tales Team – Emphasizes storytelling and gratitude.
Joyful Chapters Crew – Evokes happiness and the journey through books.
Grateful Story Seekers – Highlights the search for meaningful stories.
Pages of Thanks Posse – Fun and ties gratitude to the act of reading.
Heartfelt Reads Squad – Suggests emotional connection to books and gratitude.
Thankful Tomes Tribe – A nod to classic books and the gratitude theme.

I have genre moods that typically last several months, currently I am hip deep in romantic suspense, but that might change to epic fantasy, historical romance, space opera, pnr or romantic fantasy, and sometimes but not often police procedurals.
If you have a team member who hasn't checked in yet, feel free to message them. Time is running out. The challenge begins in just two days!

I like Thankful Page Turners and Grateful Story Seekers

I rolled the dice for this week since the challenge is starting soon and it was a 2 and 4, which is:

I just realized we're on the same team in 2 challenges right now! Also, I wasn't getting the notifications on this thread, since I failed to opt in, lol

I'm happy to do any of them as well. I tend to check in mostly while I'm at work, since that's where I have the better computer setup, so anything that can be done during work hours Central Time is best for me. And yes, I work from home, but I tend to stay offline in the evenings or weekends.

I like both of these as well. But I think I like the Grateful one a bit more. Happy with either one, though.

Do we know how we determine if the book qualifies? Is this just our judgment?

I think the dice rolling can be done any time on Fridays, while the Completion Posts and verifying seem like something that needs to be done when everyone's finished reading their book or when they've mentioned what they chose for the task. Which sounds more suitable for you?

I think it's our judgement so if we're not sure we can ask Lanelle.
I'm thinking of reading Elaina from the Dimarco series (about the Dimarco family). I'm also assuming something like a book from the Kowalski Family series would count or something that's tagged 'family'.

I think I'll take the dice rolling since my Monday mornings tend to be packed, and I don't want to get us in trouble. The joys of e-commerce, where Monday mornings = reporting.

Will have a look through my kindle and find something that fits for this weeks challenge.

As I have done a bit of seeking today to find Fated
It fits: found family for this challenge, has black clothing and high page numbers for another challenge and is paranormal for the 3rd challenge. Doesn't happen often...

Notifications regularly drop out for me. I have found on a browser, logging out and restarting the browser and logging back in brings my thread notifications back. I really miss email notifications!!!

In challenges on goodreads, very few are book specific. Reading tasks are very broad. This week's is worded "mentions competitive sport " so that could be as simple as a character watching a football match on television or going to watch Saturday baseball. That might be the only phrase in the book about sport.
Many people rely on their local library services. Or have a kindle unlimited subscription. Or there are services such as Bookbub, where there are not only books for sale but a lot of authors offer a free book for signing up to their newsletter mailing list.
I hope this helps answer your question.
