Hi! I'm Jen. I have a lot of time on my hands that I am filling up with reading. Sadly, I'm still adding to my TBR faster than I am subtracting. I just want to discuss, get excited, and have deep conversations about what I've read and get recommendations.

Drew | 6 comments Hi! I feel quite similarly. My TBR keeps growing, especially as books in series are announced. I just joined the site after a few people recommended it. Looking forward to this group.

Hello! I am still putting it together... slowly. I'm listening to Never Flinch. Not a true Stephen King fan but I do love his Holly Gibney character. King created my daughter exactly and even given her the same name. It's a little spooky. Have you read/listened to this series? It starts with Mr. Mercedes.

LePossume | 15 comments Greetings and Salutations! 👋

I’m new to Goodreads and fairly fresh into my midlife book era 📚 I’m hoping to find some likeminded bookworms to chat with.

I fell victim to the classic set-up: a seasoned book girlie lends a budding book girlie (me) ACOTAR; said book gets devoured; budding book girlie’s life is forever changed — and suddenly her bookshelf (and bank balance) are in grave danger ⚠️

Fast-forward six months, I’ve devoured 22 books and I’m loving every page of this new chapter. I also enjoy writing reviews and seeing what everyone else is reading.

Feel free to add me as a friend if you’d like ☺️

@LePossume: Welcome! Yes my shelves and bank balance are always off balance. One has way more than the other, especially when working together.

Drew | 6 comments @Jeni I haven’t read the series yet. I’m honestly not a massive fan of Stephen King either. I tried to get into his books several years ago but they always lacked my interest. His writing style is fantastic to study but personally I’ve been getting more into fantasy lately. What about the series draws you to it?

@Drew: I saw Holly and only because I wanted to be cute with my daughter, Holly, I wanted to read it even though it was Stephen King. The jacket made reference to other books that featured her but this the character's "debut" story. Holly could be a stand alone but I wanted to enjoy the character development so I read the first book she was introduced in. I liked it because it wasn't what I expected from a Stephen King book. It was more murder mystery, thriller. I will say out of total respect for King, he uses his books as a great platform to address serious issues and creates characters that hold all view points.

Hollee JW | 1 comments Hi 👋 I read an article where the writer mentioned Goodreads, so thought id check it out.
I too have a big pile of TBR at home,as well as a mental list 🙈. I find it go through stages of reading a lot, then suddenly dont look at a book for 6 months or more, before delving in to read 4-6 books in a row.
I also find if the book hasn't grassed me in the first 2 chapters then im not interested.😄

Welcome Hollee! My daughter is Holly, too. Great name. I was like that too with books when I was working. Now that I'm on medical leave, I thought I could get my TBR down a bit, instead I've added to it and read books that were not even on my list. Goodreads is a great and dangerous place. I used to read from only a few genre but now I've expanded (so has my TBR).
