Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments It’s okay to overlap books between this challenge and the Disney villain challenge, right?

message 11: by Kala (new)

Kala (randomkala93) | 272 comments This challenge starts on the 1st and the Disney one will end on the 30th at midnight. I'm not sure how being in the middle of a book works.

You only count the pages read within the time of the challenge. So if I'm 300 pages into a 500 page book when the challenge starts, then once I finish it I can only claim the 200 pages I read during the challenge

message 20: by Priya (new)

Priya (priyalovesreading) | 90 comments Do we just update the spreadsheet with the books we are reading against the prompts they fit and try to complete each part?

message 21: by Kala (new)

Kala (randomkala93) | 272 comments It really depends on what the group likes. Since all the challenges this month are open, it might be OK to update the spreadsheet with the books you plan to read in October and what tasks they fit.

I don't know how everyone else feels about that, though.

message 22: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) | 269 comments Do what feels comfortable for you. Personally, I go with the flow. Read what I want and see what is open on the spreadsheet after where it fits. If someone else has a book completed & reviewed already for a certain prompt and I haven't finished mine yet I would want them to complete it. We all have different reading speeds. Think it only really matters towards very specific prompts such as lists.

Im okay with whatever the group decides. Also in advanced Im totally cool with anyone posting a banked book of mine.

Adding Diana to the team everyone!

message 25: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 1345 comments I read ALOT and try to find books to fill in spots if I see we are "stuck" but do note it on the spreadsheet without marking box as complete(only do that once I have posted on review thread to be counted)! Feel Free to bump mine and preferably move to bank thread so I realize it was bumped and I'm not crazy lol

message 26: by Priya (new)

Priya (priyalovesreading) | 90 comments Yeah I feel the same way. I have updated one book on the sheet but if anyone finishes a book that fits that prompt please feel free to bump it as well!
I'll update other books as I start them.

message 27: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 6080 comments Mod
I will likely just add my books to the spreadsheet after I finish them and post them. I don't want to hold on to a spot that someone else may have something for in case I take longer to finish the book than they do.

Diana (diana_reads07) | 542 comments Same, if someone finishes before me and it fits the category, then delete me on the spreadsheet.

message 30: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments If I finished a book today (started 3 days ago), that can't be counted towards the challenge, right?

message 31: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) | 269 comments Amanda wrote: "If I finished a book today (started 3 days ago), that can't be counted towards the challenge, right?"

From what I remember as long as you read 100+ pages in October (today), yes. Only the pages read in October would be included for the page count. Ask Alaina in Q&A to be safe.

You can count however many pages you read in October for this challenge (as long as you read at least 100 pages in October).

message 34: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments hii, how do we mark if a book is set in Massachusetts AND tagged Halloween? Do we just note it when we post the review?

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments Does anyone if there's a faster way to check if a book is on a specific shelf? 😅

message 38: by Amanda (new)

message 39: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) | 269 comments Amanda wrote: "Does anyone if there's a faster way to check if a book is on a specific shelf? 😅"

No but I would really love it. On the side of a list, showing books on your shelves would be a nice idea so I don't have to endlessly scroll.

message 40: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) | 269 comments I will note the only lists I do have books for are in the Abuse & Resurrection lists. May help narrow things down. I will try to read one today since there is a storm.

message 41: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4135 comments Mod
Btw, I'm putting my books in when I start them so I know what category they'll work for, but I make sure to always mark that they're CR. Feel free to move my CRs around if you have a completed book for that category!

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments The points for the book "phantasma" still aren't showing up on the spreadsheet. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't know how to work Excel lol

I'm not sure how important it is that the points show up there, I just want to make sure they're counted

The SS is always unofficial - if the points are counted on the review thread, then you're all good! If you posted the book but don't see the points in your total, maybe just drop a message in the review thread because Alaina might have missed something

I'll take a look quick since I just finished a book and need to put mine in the sheet.

Should be fixed, let me know.

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 605 comments I'm reading dragonfly in amber now and it could fit for

drink on cover Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon (if this counts, what do you guys think?)

or for 3+ people on cover if use this edition Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon

Is anyone reading anything that fits one of those tasks? If so, i'll use it for the other
