Running for Councilor
Scorpion's Den
Present Day

Elena walked around the Scorpion’s Den, the glow from the bioluminescent mushrooms and crystals reflecting on her face. She placed her hand against the wall, gliding it across as if she was in the air. She was the only person in the room now. She figured that the others either went out on a mission or were just hanging around Asterath. That’s how the Scorpions ran; doing some mission or harmless prank and laughing it off. And she loved it.

The silence was even more evident as the clink of her boots and the silver chains on her leather skirt rattled across the Den. Honestly, it felt weird being alone. But at least she had some to herself, she supposed. Time to reflect on her thoughts or whatever she wanted to do. She might as well take advantage of it.

Elena had heard of the upcoming election for councilor like everyone else. As she heard that there was an open spot on the council, she decided to apply and run for the position. The Night Riders needed representation on the council, and this the perfect opportunity to prove that she could be a competent and reliable councilor. She might not have much experience in politics, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t capable, at least in her mind.

So far, there were two candidates; Isla Rey and Katniss Winters. A non-gang affiliated person and a Spider. How interesting. She wondered who else would apply for the sought after position. Well, maybe that was something she shouldn’t have been concerned about at the moment. The most important thing right now was to apply and get her campaign started. And it looked like that she would be the third person to run for councilor.

As Elena read their statements, Isla admittedly seemed like the better candidate. But that didn’t mean that she couldn’t have a chance against her. The election could go in any direction, so she couldn’t rule anyone out just yet.

She wrote out her statement:
I might be a Night Rider, but I care for our beloved city of Asterath! I want to help out the citizens in any way that I can. I know how many fear for their safety due to the violence, and I've learned that from personal experience. Safety of the citizens will be my number one top priority if I am elected councilor. Everyone deserves equal opportunity and peace of mind knowing that they will be safe to walk the streets of Asterath. I hope you will give me a chance despite my gang affiliation!

Elena glanced over her application, satisfied at how it turned out. This was going to be an interesting election, that was for sure. She was looking forward to the results. Who will be the new Asterathi councilor? Everyone will have to wait and see.

She smiled to herself, leaving the Scorpion’s Den and holding the application in her hand. This should be fun. Good luck to everyone running, and may the best candidate win.
