Carol (carolfromnc) | 4486 comments Our new (as of Sept 29) masthead is from an article entitled, "7 Black Female Gothic Horror Authors You Should Be Dying To Know."

https://bookstr.com/article/7-black-f...

Mentioned are Linda D. Addison, author of The Place of Broken Things, a dark poetry collection; L. Marie Wood, author of many books, including Crescendo; Nalo Hopkinson, author of Midnight Robber and others; Dia Reeves, author of Slice of Cherry and more; author, poet, playwright, and activist, Jewelle Gomez, author of The Gilda Stories, along with many plays, poetry and other novels; Alexis Henderson, author of the dark fantasy and horror novel, The Year of the Witching; and author, musician and editor, Tenea D. Johnson, author of the short story collection, Broken Fevers, and more.

Are there other Black Women-authored spooky or gothic books or collections that you recommend? What's on your list for themed October reading?

Jen R. (rosetung) | 920 comments I loved White Is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi. Really wanna read it again as well as more from her. And I'm curious about Nuzo Onoh ever since I heard about her on BBC.

Hannah | 1275 comments I was just thinking of starting a thread to ask for recommendations for a starting point in this genre and here it it! It's not one I'm at all familiar with so any more recs are welcome!

Also, specifically for Oyeyemi: print or audio?
