2025 & 2026 Reading Challenge discussion

It's that time again: we are preparing for the new year!

To address the important question first, yes, the group will indeed continue on in 2026! The group name will therefore be changed to reflect this transition. We will also archive all of your 2025 Personal Challenge and Members’ Corner threads so that you don't lose your info!

Here's a look at the schedule the Mods have put together for the coming months:
Early October:
2026 Yearly Theme suggestions thread posted.
Poll for returning yearly challenges posted.
Yearly challenge idea thread posted.

Mid October:
2026 Yearly Theme Poll posted.

Early November:
Yearly, Quarterly and Monthly Themes announced!
Secret Santa sign-ups.
Masthead and Logo contest opens for entries.
Buddy Read Sign-Up thread for 2026 posted.
2026 Member Challenge Ideas thread posted.
Group Name Changed to “2025 & 2026 Reading Challenge.”

Late November:
January and Q1 challenges posted. They will be available for viewing but locked for comments until December 25th.

Early December:
Posting of yearly challenges. These will be posted over the course of several weeks, starting with the newly created challenges, and finishing with the most popular returning ones by Mid-December.
New folders for your Personal Challenge and Members’ Corner threads created.
Tentative schedule for Readathons revealed.
Masthead poll posted.

Last Week of December:
January and Q1 challenges unlocked.
2025 in Review posted.

First week of January:
Group name changed to “2026 Reading Challenge.”
New Logo and Masthead revealed.
All 2025 topics archived.

2025 has been my first year I was more active on this group (to my capacity), and I really loved it. Looking forward to next year. Thank you to the beautiful mod team for all the hard work you do and all the joy you bring us!!!

I also want to thank all of the moderators for making this group such a wonderful place to spend time in, for bringing together nice people to read with and for all of the wonderful challenge ideas. I sadly havent been able to be as active this year, but its been a joy whenever I got the chance. :)

This is such a wonderful group. I've been a member for years now. We really do have an incredible set of mods here.

You are all very welcome. It is all you members that make it fun for us so thank you as well.

It's my 3rd year in this group and I really enjoy the challenges year after year, it's fun, stimulating and helps to open up to new reading genres too, thanks a lot !
