My others are:
The Trees (my first percival everett)
Dark Intelligence (cleaning up tbr - older unread scifi)
The Lynching: The Epic Courtroom Battle That Brought Down the Klan

Hahahaha! Love it.
I am enjoying Vampires Never Get Old. It is a collection of vampire stories, most of which are by BIPOC women. I am also reading Gold by Catherine Winters - which is the third book in a vampire trilogy. It's a vampire spooky season for me I guess! Love the spooky, ghoulish, vampiric, monster stuff! So, what am I going as for Halloween? A vampire? A witch? A zombie? No. A hotdog vendor! LOL. That is because my dog is going to be a hot dog. LOL. I mean, we're doing a trunk 'n treat at my church where I am the choir director, so I couldn't really do anything too ghoulish. :)

I like that! (and love imagining you as a choir director, too).
Off topic: I have a friend trying to get me to participate in Trunk or Treat at my church and I'm a bit overwhelmed at how big my way-back is and what it would take from a design standpoint to fill it, e.g., man that's a lot of candy even if there's only 5 - 6 containers. Like ... after I buy the amazon decor kit, it still seems like a lot. Is there a trick to this? (no pun intended)
Back to books - I really like leaning into vampires vs other horror. I should try that. I don't really want to read creepy/scary before I go to bed, but vamps don't hit me the same way as "a bad guy in the house with me" stories. Thanks for the inspo.

The Reformatory by Tananarive Due for $2.99 (the original take on the Dozier School for Boys - also the subject of The Nickel Boys)
Phantasma by Kaylie Smith $1.99 (dark romantasy)
The Witching Tide by Margaret Meyer (historical fiction) $1.99
and, it's not horror, but hey - Sadeqa Johnson's Yellow Wife is on sale for $1.99

If you enjoy reading books about books, I’d recommend The Lady and Her Monsters: A Tale of Dissections, Real-Life Dr. Frankensteins, and the Creation of Mary Shelley's Masterpiece by Roseanne Montillo with or after your read of Frankenstein.
