❤️ gwenn! so, am I missing something obvious? where do we see which musicals are pitted against which?
cause I will read every queer and/or dying MC book I can to vote for RENT, but there are several others I love too...depending on the matchups.

You can find the bracket with the matchups on the "bracket" tab in the spreadsheet! The SS is linked in the first message I posted on this thread :)

That starts next round! I'm posting the bonus challenges on Mondays only to help everyone (but mainly me, lol) keep them straight

Players, welcome to the first Monday of the challenge! This week, your bonus challenge is:

Spell out the word STARRING using author's initials only. You may use any letter from the author's initials, including middle names. This is a group challenge, so together you will need to post 8 books for this challenge, one for each letter.
If you choose to complete this challenge, please post in the review thread like this:
Review: (link)
Bonus Challenge: S
How it Fits: Author's last name is Steinbeck
As a reminder, this bonus challenge is optional and there are no penalties for choosing not to complete it. However, if you do choose to complete it, your team will earn 20 bonus points!
Happy reading!

hi everyone, if you're using your book for the monday challenge please enter your book into the 'mon challenges' tab thank you
Hello teams! This is a reminder that if you chose to do the bonus challenge this week, please have all 8 books posted by midnight, Pacific Time on Sunday, Jan. 11th
Hey folks, just a heads up that if you use a book for the bonus challenge it does NOT also count towards a musical. This is part of why the challenges are optional, you have to decide to "spend" books on them or not each week. For the most recent ones that you posted I counted them towards the bonus challenge, but if you'd like me to change that and use them as musical votes instead then please let me know!
Thank you for clarifying, Saige! Team - I was one of the people who submitted a task for both. Do you all want me to keep it toward the bonus or use it for a musical vote?
Amanda wrote: "Also, Saige - does counting it towards the bonus worth more points?"
No, each book is only worth its page points either way. If you put it towards the bonus and complete the challenge then you get bonus points, but each book on its own isn't worth extra. Does that make sense?

Welcome to the second bonus challenge of the game! This is a musicals challenge, but who does musicals as famous as Broadway? Disney of course!

This week's bonus is all about book covers! You will need 5 books to complete this bonus challenge, one for each of the following categories:
1. Castle on cover
2. Star(s) on cover
3. Crown on cover
4. Animal on cover
5. Cover is mostly blue
If your team posts one book for each of the above categories, then you will earn 30 bonus points. As a reminder, these weekly challenges are meant to be a little more difficult because you don't have very long to complete them, which is why they are completely optional. Also remember that books you use for the bonus challenge do NOT count towards a musical - your team must coordinate and plan whether to use books for the bonus or to make sure certain musicals make it to the next round.
As always, if you have questions, the Q&A is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
This bonus challenge will close at midnight, PST on Sunday, January 18th. Happy reading!

for this week's challenge, I can do any except for #1. I know I can do 2 of the 5, also, if needed. shall we coordinate what people want to do so we can get the points?
ok, I found something I could read for castles. so I am happy to take any 2 of the above ... if C has stars, anyone else want to claim something? 😉
gwenn says they have animal on cover. so I will start a castle book today and if no one else does crown, I will do that next. 😉
Hi everyone! For the bonus, I already posted my book for Crown...I just finished a book that can work for Animal! I won't post it yet because I believe someone else said they'll do Animal but I'll check again later in the afternoon today and if no one has posted a book for Animal, I'll post mine! :) I hope you're all having a great weekend!!
Hey teams! Just a reminder that that bonus challenge AND round 1 of the musical bracket end tonight at midnight Pacific Time!

Welcome to round two of the Musical Madness challenge! Your spreadsheets have been updated with who survived on the bracket and losing musical categories have been deleted. There were two ties in the first round, which were decided by a coin toss.
Round two will continue until Sunday, February 1st
This week's bonus challenge is all about New York City, the home of Broadway!

Because New York is one of the most diverse cities in the world, this week's challenge focuses on characters. You will need to post 5 books total and if you complete the challenge your team will earn 40 bonus points!
The categories are:
1. MC is African or of African descent
2. MC is South American or of South American descent
3. MC is Asian or of Asian descent
4. MC is European or of European descent
5. MC is Indigenous or of Indigenous descent (anywhere in the world, doesn't have to be North America)
This challenge will run until midnight Pacific Time on January 25th. Good luck teams!
Alright, I finished those two...I could do another I suppose?I'll start on indigenous. I have one I can use for european too, if needed, but I figure that is the 'easiest' so I'll wait to see if someone else wants to grab it.
I can definitely try to finish European but I'm a bit busy right now, so I'm not sure if I'll definitely be able to finish
OK, I started reading Carmilla which is only 108 pages, so I can put that one in if no one else does one. I will be able to finish it no problem, and I'm almost done with the other as well.
