Nikki goes to see Annmarie’s father Howard who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease to see if she can notify him of her death. While there, he thinks she’s her mother and mentions that he will still “take that secret to the grave.” It unnerved Nikki…what about you?

It had already been mentioned that Nikki's mother spent a summer at a friends/relative in Michigan when she was a teen. When Howard mentioned that Valerie had a "secret", I guessed what it was.

I agree with Robin. I assumed the secret was what was eventually revealed.
