I feel like I’ve read so many recently! I read mostly YA so sorry if that’s not what you’re looking for!Classics:
Wuthering Heights- Emily Brontë
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë
Persuasion- Jane Austen
The Book Thief- Markus Zusak
Anne of Green Gables- L. M. Montgomery (school year/ summer adventures)
Little Women- Louisa May Alcott (fall/winter, cosy, sweet vibes)
Fantasy-
The Prison Healer- Lynette Noni
Divine Rivals- Rebecca Ross
The Floating World- Axie Oh
These Violent Delights- Chloe Gong (don’t think this is primarily a fantasy but I’m gonna count it)
The Spellshop- Sarah Beth Durst
The Revenant Games- Margie Fuston
Fable- Adrienne Young
Wicked Fox- Kay Cho
Immortal Dark- Tigest Girma
Lovely War- Julie Berry
The Otherwhere Post- Emily J. Taylor
i’m more of a thriller/mystery reader myself, but honestly anything by Holly Jackson is perfect for the fall/halloween season!! I’d recommend her newest book “Not Quite Dead Yet” since it takes place around halloween! (I’ll also note that it’s a good book to get you out of a reading slump bc I’ve been in a few recently and it has worked every time lol)
A couple of fun and cozy YA graphic novels that I think are perfect for this time of year are The Okay Witch written and illustrated by Emma Steinkellner and Pumpkinheads written by Rainbow Rowell and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks :)
for Halloween spooky ya fantasy - Lockwood & Co - Jonathan Stroud 👻
full of ghosts, mystery, comedy, & spookiness - also top-tier world building & characters
I‘m currently reading „the haunting of hill house“ by Shirley Jackson and I am frightened. I‘m reading it for a book club, normally I stay away from horror as far as I can but it‘s incredibly well-written and also kind of funny in it‘s own way, at least it made me smirk sometimes. So if you‘re into ghost stories and like an intagible evil rather than guys running around with axes that‘s the perfect book for you!
i lovvvee babel by rf kuang... feels very dark academia -- other people have said holly jackson and i adore things by her... i <3 a good girl's guide to murder (the whole trilogy honestly) but also five survive!! and if you're into fantasy i would also say the folk of the air trilogy (kinda political intrigue with a b plot enemies to lovers slowburn)

what are some of your favorite fall books? this can be based on cozy vibes, dark academia aesthetics, halloween spookiness, etc.
some of my personal favorites are the dead romantics by ashley poston (a ghost love story), ninth house by leigh bardugo (dark academia excellence), and frankenstein by mary shelley (which i’ve read for the past two halloween seasons).
can’t wait to get some incredible recommendations!
