What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The book was a fantasy novel published before 1996 definitely, but could have been from the 1980s.

The main characters of the book are a very plain man and woman who get transported to another world.

The transition to this other world transformed the man into a muscular physical ideal like Barbarian, whereas the woman becomes a type of elfin /fairy creature with empathic abilities.

They then go on to discover that their new realities had a down side.

The male character as a Barbarian was prone to rage and fits of violence that he could not control, and had to deal with the aftermath of things he had done and attempt to use modern psychological techniques to control himself.

I recall the female character became a sort of "reverse succubus" (a phrase i recall from the book), so that she was compelled to seduce men that were burdened with worry, regret, or dispair.... which she would then absorb from them.
