Kara closed her locker door, trying to not be seen. The last thing she needed was to be discovered.
She stepped on the old floorboards… they creaked in the silence , everytime she took another stepp it just got louder.
She closed her eyes and sucked in a breath. She needed to focus. ‘Just finish the job, then they’ll leave you alone’ she told herself.
She sighed heavily , she got out her stationary kit and set in on her desk as quietly as she could and she started writing something on the parchment in a very secretive motion she concealed the parchment in a envelope and put it out of sight-so no one no where ,could ever find it until the right time…
Kara left her secrets behind her as she snuck through the dark hallways and out the door. She breathed a sigh of relief when she reached her car and drove away. She tried her best not to speed up faster…
But she kept feeling like someone of something was watching her. It sounded so cliche, but it was true. She sat frozen in fear, trying to keep her eyes on the road. Eventually she worked up the courage to pull over and check behind the seats. Nothing. Laughing to herself for being so childish, she pulled out onto the road, but a giant black pickup came out of nowhere. The last thing Kara remembered that day was the terrified face of the driver staring back into hers.(Omg sorry that was way too long i just got in the groove 😭)
Kara awoke, her ears ringing. She squinted, blinded by the light. Once her eyes adjusted, she sat up gingerly, looking around.
Blood drained from her face when she realized what had happened. Weighing her options, Kara thoroughly considered the idea of falling back asleep on the metal table she lay on.
Machines beeped monotonously, and she watched the heart monitor quietly reading her pulse, up and down…
That’s when she realized how much her body hurt. Everywhere. An undeniable feeling that demanded her full attention. Through the pain she remembered a line from her favorite book: ‘pain demands to be felt’. She would have smiled at the irony if her face didn’t hurt so much.
Not only was there blinding pain, but she felt as though she couldn't move a single inch. She gasped, choking from the pain. She managed to look down at herself, and let out a strangled sob as she saw...
A man whose face was covered by a mask. He was standing in the corner of the room ominously. Kara tried her best not to make eye contact, but she could feel his gaze burning into her nevertheless. No escaping from my fate now, she thought to herself. Gathering her courage, she said with what you could call a wobbly voice…
The man laughed ruefully. “I think you know EXACTLY what we’re here for.” Kara was slightly irritated that he ignored her first demand entirely. She was losing ground by the second. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” But she already knew that there wasn’t any hope of escape. The man replied…
“The sooner we can start the operation, the better.”And then he smiled in a way Kara had never seen before.
His lips pulled back from his teeth unnaturally, curled into almost a nasty sneer. As if he was enjoying her predicament…
Before she could open her mouth to scream, a needle was injected into her arm. Blackness swirled in her mind, and the last thing she could picture was the man laughing

She woke up with a sharp pain in her wrists and ankles. She was chained to the wall in a strange room.
Pulling on the chains that bound her, she muttered, “There’s got to be a way out of here.” She lifted her head and looked around the room to see if she could find anything to assist in her escape when something to the left caught her attention.
She leaned away from the mirror, terrified. . Kara could feel beads of sweat dripping down her face as she breathed laboriously.
And that’s when the man she least wanted to see at the moment strolled in without a care in the world. He had the ever-so-slight hint of a smirk on his face that made him seem superior to everyone else. He looked at Kara and said, “See, you took everything away from me, and I have done the same to you.”
“What are you talking about?” she asked in a confused voice. “I’ve never even met you before today.”
His face filled with anger"Don't play dumb Kara"the man said."You know what you have!"I have suffered in grief and loneliness after what you did!"He yelled.
Kara couldn’t believe it. She had never seen this man before. She looked into his eyes, icy and full of wrath, and wondered who this man might be. And then, she felt the slightest flicker of recognition. This man, the one with a slight smirk permanently on his face, she’d met him before. But when?
Kara searched his face seeing if something would trigger her memory, when a scar shaped like a lightning bolt at the corner of his eye came to her attention. That scar, she had seen it somewhere, but where? And then it dawned on her…
It was during the wreck when her car and another smashed together. She remembered the flahing lights a mans face in the ambulance sitting beside a pale faced woman.Who she had heard died.
