I'll admit to having a bit of difficulty finding a Scifi-Fantasy book which fit my mood, but when I bumped into Automatic Noodle set in San Francisco in 2064, I knew it would fit the bill.

For what seem to be mysterious reasons, four robots had been shut down at the restaurant they worked at in San Francisco. It seems that the owners absconded. One of the robots, Staybehind who is military grade relaunched and quickly rebooted the others.

While the California constitution allows the robots or “human equivalent embodied intelligence” (HEEI) individuals civil rights, they do not have quite the same rights as humans and that includes autonomy and ownership.

They like each other and they like to work with food and Hands has the vision of making good food and wants to make Biang Biang Noodles.

This book is about all the challenges they face. I really enjoyed hearing about California and even Yolo County where I live.

If you are like me and having a bit of a struggle and just want something fun, this might be the book!
