One November BOTM theme is FROM YOUR TBR LIST. All nominations were by Steve (me) for this one. I prefer wider participation nominating books. The poll had a tie, but this one got 3 votes before the other book, so I’m calling it the winner. winner.

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson (1992)

Publisher’s Summary
The "brilliantly realized" (The New York Times Book Review) modern classic that coined the term "metaverse"--one of Time's 100 best English-language novels and "a foundational text of the cyberpunk movement" (Wired), now in a gorgeous new hardcover edition featuring bonus material

In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosoNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that's striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous . . . you'll recognize it immediately.

So, … the main character delivers a pizza with extreme consequences if it’s late, so he’s taking risks and driving like a madman. Harkens back to the 30 minute pizza delivery guarantee of Domino’s Pizza back in the 80s. He gets someone clamped on to his car with a retractable rope surfing on a hoverboard I guess. This seems to channel Back to the Future.

OK …

Reads a bit like a comic book level of maturity.
