[ Ollie ] || [ Miserabilia ] | 17 comments Robert Pickton (1949-2024) was a Canadian serial killer located in British Columbia. He was known for his pig farming, which on his family farm he used the area for all of his murders, which mostly consisted of female prostitutes from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

He became known as the "Pig Farmer" because he fed the remains of his victim's bodies to his pigs. He claims to have had forty nine victims, which he told to an officer posing as his cellmate. Many consider him to be the worst serial killer in Canadian history.

He was caught in 2002 where he received life sentence on six accounts of second degree murder. He lived in prison until his death in 2024.

[ Ollie ] || [ Miserabilia ] | 17 comments One thing I find interesting about him is, alike other serial killers that targeted prostitutes, he gave himself a "saviour complex". Mostly where his motivation was that these female workers in his opinion were dirty and he was just doing his part to help "clean up" the city.

That's crazy. I feel like that's what a lot of killers do, they try to validate their crime to make it seem less bad, like 'these are horrible people they deserved it'. But sadly many killers are just sadistic and enjoy other people's pain.
