Ahh dam, what are u learning? (I won’t be able help probs but I’m curious)

I love bio lol but i probs haven’t done any of the stuff you have

But uh so I learned this trick from a youtouber so it’s called blurting (ifykyk) and basically you revise for however long it takes you to cover all ur material and then you heap a piece of paper and just “blurt” whatever you remember for twenty minutes or smth however long it takes for you to get everything out that u remember and then you correct everything fill in the blanks and repeat the process until you get a good result

Here in my school we just do whatever's in the book and that's it.....no creative or stimulating tasks.....we just have to scan the entire book into our brains 💀 cuz anything can come from anywhere in exams

What do ya’ll know about genetics, and peppered moths? I’m supposed to do a presentation about this by myself. It’s about, “natural selection: peppered moths - analyze how environmental change affected moth populations in industrial England. I genuinely have no idea what to do😭

Next: biology. The problem with biology is that it requires strong maths.

Every kid dreams of being a marine biologist or a wildlife biologist, or a zoologist --everyone wants to help injured animals --but, guess what?

You need strong math credits or they won't let you in.

Algebra 1 & II yes at minimum. They're bad enough.

What's worse is: if you want to work in a science career they insist on Calculus or Trigonometry.

It caused me major life angst at the time; and I had to give up a big dream I had: working with nature/ecology.

Changed all my plans, just so that I would never have to face either Calc or Trig. I squeaked Math req's instead with Statistics and Logic electives.

Loving a subject makes it easier to learn.

But I feel no college should require higher mathematics for students in any natural sciences track.

No biologist ever uses trig or calc in their daily work. Never. Not even chemists use it.

I once knew one of the top guys at USGS --head of the eastern seaboard --and I asked him, whether he ever uses math.

His answer: no, because once desktop 'puters arrived the 'puter does all that.

Colleges should only teach higher math to physics students.

Seriously, why teach me something I will never use in real life?
