Two graduate students must set aside their rivalry and journey to Hell to save their professor’s soul, perhaps at the cost of their own.

Alice Law has only ever had one goal: to become one of the brightest minds in the field of Magick. She has sacrificed everything to make that a reality—her pride, her health, her love life, and most definitely her sanity. All to work with Professor Jacob Grimes at Cambridge, the greatest magician in the world—that is, until he dies in a magical accident that could possibly be her fault.

Grimes is now in Hell, and she’s going in after him. Because his recommendation could hold her very future in his now incorporeal hands, and even death is not going to stop the pursuit of her dreams. Nor will the fact that her rival, Peter Murdoch, has come to the same conclusion.

Through Chapter 2
I did not read the synopsis and the introduction to this book really throws you into the world. That being said, it certainly has me excited to what happens next.

I keep debating if I should reread this one and give it another chance :)

I'm only two chapters in but so far it has me curious where the story will go. We will see if the story can hold the same intrigue as the beginning.

I don't know if I'm just personally tired of long books or what. The story started right in the middle of the action but now the pacing how slowed down and we are wondering throughout help aimlessly. I'm also tired of the constant miscommunication in the books between the MCs.

I'm curious as to why Peter never talked with her after they were done working together, or showed up for any of the outings they planned. But all of a sudden he's happy to go to hell with her. What is his motivation in all this. (hide spoiler)]

The story was picking up a bit there. But it seems to be slowing down again. I liked hearing Peter's side of being a student. I don't know why either of them feel like they murdered the Professor. He's the professor and should have double checked their work. Especially in their line of business. I did like the part about having to write a dissertation to attempt to get out of hell. That part made me chuckle (hide spoiler)]
