Just finished this one.

I enjoyed it a lot! I didn't like the MC very much (or any of the characters, if I'm honest), but by the end I respected her a great deal.

Have you read any of his other books Jenny? Are they worth reading?

Yes, I have read , and I have on my shelf. I enjoyed Panic a lot. The other one I cannot tell you yet, but it sounds like a hoot.

Weren't the children interesting? Of all the random things/powers/bits-o-weird that could happen, I love what they do. I thought it made for an entertaining story.

Definitely. I thought it was just this side of too ridiculous, if that makes sense.

I'd read a book by him before without realizing it until I started this one. I read several years ago and remember liking it. The family was majorly messed up but in an entertaining way.

I keep meaning to pick that one up. So, worth it?

I am just starting this. It looks interesting. The last book had some crazy townspeople.

Yeah... I always wonder what it is about money that turns people into far more unpleasant versions of themselves.

And usually also removed any good taste they may once have had. It seems the richer someone is, the more hideous the interior of their home has to be 😂

As someone who frames art for a living, I can say with experience, that the richer you are, the more you relinquish your own taste to an interior designer's. I have yet to meet an interior designer that had good taste. Or, to be fair, taste like my own. I do my best to help people who are about to make bad decisions, but, I am not always successful.

I bet you've had to frame some terrible art in your job! 😆

A mix of both. Most of it I wouldn't want in my house, but I rarely get stuff in that makes my eyes bleed, thankfully.

I know a lot of rich people don't often care about what the art looks like, just what it is worth, in terms of investment. Personally I wonder why they bother hanging it up in that case. Surely safely storing your ugly piece of valubale art would free up your walls for things you do like looking at?

Most people have no idea what art is worth. The great majority of it is worth very little, even if it does have a signature. I mean, Aunt Betty signed her precious little watercolor landscapes as well as the great artists whose work sells at Sotheby's.

The ones who buy art in the hope of it appreciating in value crack me up. maybe one piece in 500 or so will actually have a resale value someday.
In my humble opinion, one should buy art that makes you feel something, that you want to keep looking at. It doesn't matter at all if it cost you 5 Euros from a street vendor that you got on vacation or ten million dollars at an art auction. If you don't enjoy it, what is the point?

I totally agree. My cousin works at an auction house, and she says often the winning bidders don't even look at the art they've just bought. No interest at all. I just don't get that. Surely there are other things you can invest your money in if art isn't your thing?

But I'm willing to win the lottery so I can figure out the answers to all that. In the name of science and all...

I'm hoping to jump in here. It's my first book by the author but I'm enjoying it so far.

It is an odd one, but I loved it.

I'm on chapter 8 and am listening to the audio. It is definitely odd, but I really like it so far.

I just finished it and absolutely loved it!

I'm so glad! No one is going to pick up this book because of the beautiful cover, so I try to tell as many people as I can that it is worth giving a try.
