Tiny ౨ৎ (tinybookish) | 119 comments So random but just wanted to see… when starting a book series do you usually read the whole series one after the other before going to a different book (standalone or another series) or do you take breaks between the series by reading other books?

Like both have their benefits and drawbacks but what do you do? And which do you think is best?

Ri (anergia) | 195 comments The "best" way to approach a series is read what you are interested in and enjoy until that isn't what's happening anymore. If it's a series of interconnected standalones, that may be a bit different if there's an overarching plot vs. a new plot for each book of main characters. There are nuances and exceptions to the "rule" for me. Overall, reading as a hobby of leisure shouldn't be something forced like an assignment for work or school. Life is too short to force yourself to not DNF a book, regardless if it's a series where you liked a minimum of 1 book from that series.

Some people are "completionists." That's cool, but if I don't like a series, I move on. Maybe I'll pick it back up again after a break or two, maybe not. It's not that deep /shrugs. It's rare that I can binge read a series because I become aware of word choices and other quirks of the writer. Then, it can become verrrrry obvious (negative) with the repetition or the very opposite, and I want to binge more. There are so many possibilities that are exceptions to arbitrary rules regarding series. I'd be here writing a dissertation level explanation lol.

heav (hamilton’s version) (judesduartes) | 105 comments i try to read all the way through because if i don’t, i’ll likely never continue! but if i do take breaks, its usually just 1 book in between

Harry Potter and Hunger Games =hooked for the entire series
Longer series like Anne of Green Gables = I read a few, read a different book, read a few, etc.

Parker ;) | 28 comments I do straight through bc if I don’t i will like “forget” the plot and characters and the next will be less interesting. This is probably mostly bc I read the same genre over and over and everything blends together in my mind

Holger Jakobsen | 1 comments After I finished the first book, I went straight into the next, as I wanted to read more from her. The story is not a continuation though, but the protagonists are the same.

All of Viggi Johansens books are on KU.

Adventurous Designs (Whispers of Passion #1) by Viggi Johansen The Edge of Submission An Odyssey of Pain and Pleasure (Whispers of Passion #2) by Viggi Johansen Echoes of Desire Revenge and Flames of Justice (Whispers of Passion #3) by Viggi Johansen

3 books. All of them sligthly different.

Book 1 tells the story of Viggi, a young red haired, shy woman, and how she discovered BDSM, and the way how this changed her confidence. Her relationship to her Mistress Kristin is hot and spicy, and together with Kristin´s boyfriend Peder, she experiences an almost totally new world. Told through the eyes of a submissive.

Book 2, short and precise, gives a good insight to the world inside of a BDSM dungeon. Very spice story about submission, pain, driving Viggi fully to the edge.

Book 3, the same protagonists embedded in a mafia like crime story, experiencing BDSM and bisexual and transexual encounters.

All 3 highly recommended. Start with #1 !

It depends on how interesting the series is and how quickly the author writes new books. Obviously, if a year or more passes between the publication of the first and second books, then I will have read many other books in the meantime.
