Welcome to the Snowglobe Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on November 11th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

November 12th: Cure For Pain - Me in the Mirror
November 13th: The Weathercaster - Seeker of Misery
November 14th: A Room of My Own - The Secret Correspondents
November 15th: The Show of All Shows - The Truth
November 16th: Banished - The Researchers

Brianna C | 1355 comments through the end of A Job Meant for Me: I am intrigued by the concept of this one so far. There have only been a few hiccups with the writing for me but I think that is mostly due to it being a translation - things don't always flow the same in another language.

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 335 comments I agree @Brianna. I think also the (South Korean) culture shows through. The blurb on the front of the book said it was Hunger Games meets Squid Games, but the vibe I have had so far is Snowpiercer meets Hunger Games. And I have been cold reading this (it's below freezing in my neck of the woods, so it just underscores all the cold talk in the book).
I wonder what drove Haeri to suicide, and will this be a mystery that Chobahm tries to solve?

Brianna C | 1355 comments through end of Seeker of Misery: I am super curious about this whole trick (?) thing with the mirror. It'll also be interesting to see if she is able to successfully trick her friend that is there or not. I am guessing not but that means something bad could then happen to her so it's hard to say.

I have never seen Squid Games so not sure about the correlation there. I sort of get the Hunger Games reference but pretty loosely. I read The Compound earlier this year and so far that has been the closest in my opinion.

Brianna C | 1355 comments through The Secret Correspondents (technically 1 day behind): I'm enjoying this for the most part but do think it's moving a little on the slow side so hard to get into a good groove. I am still curious about this mirror thing and there are definitely things about Haeri that most people in her life don't seem to know about. I am intrigued by the mystery and am curious what she figures out with the lockbox and all.

Brianna C | 1355 comments through the end of The Researchers: So things have gone in a completely different direction that I was expecting! I am curious to see how things end in this installment since there is only about 25% remaining - what will be wrapped up and what will be the set up for the sequel?

Brianna C | 1355 comments I did end up finishing this tonight so read a little ahead.
through the end: (view spoiler)

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 335 comments I got behind on this book because of my IRL book clubs (one of which I host) needing the attention. I hope to finish this tomorrow, but at this point I finished Part 2 chapter 1 (through The Show of All Shows).
The mirror thing is fascinating, and it makes me wonder if Haeri had figured it out too. It makes it feel like a fantasy world (though otherwise this book is very dystopian).
I am really wondering about the lockbox and Bonwhe's and Haeri's relationship. I'm not sure yet if I trust him, though I seem to be getting closer after the last interaction.
The more I find out about Director Cha, the less I like her. But the weather guy Fran seemed like a good guy to know - I hope we get to see more of him in the future chapters.
