For some context Rose and Kat were competing for the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in their dance studios Nutcracker and Kat got the role and Rose is her understudy and Rose wanted the role.

Also Will isn’t a Christian but that will change soon, lol
(Also (Blank) is the coach’s name but I can’t remember what I named him, lol)

Kat’s pov:

In gym class we had dodgeball. Everyone groaned when (Blank) announced this. He slit us into two teams
Zoe was on my team but Will was on the other team and Rose was on his team as well.

We started playing and during the second game Rose aimed straight for me and threw as hard as she could, the ball hit me in the stomach and I crumpled to the floor from how much it hurt.

I knew that Rose was mad that I had gotten the part of Sugar plum and that she was only my understudy but I’d dint think she would actually try to hurt me.

The last thing I saw before everything went black was Will dropping his ball and running over to me yelling “Kat!”, I felt him pick me up but after that nothing.

Will’s pov:

I didn’t like being on the same team as Rose, because of the way she’s always treated Kat and it’s gotten worse ever since Kat beat her for the role of the Sugar plum fairy. I’ve talked to her and to Chloe about it but it hasn’t gotten any better.

So when Rose threw that ball at Kat and Kat crumpled to the floor in pain, I was livid.

I dropped my ball and immediately ran to Kat’s side yelling her name.i gently picked her up and she groaned. I stood up with Kat still in my arms and started to go yell at Rose, but Zoe who had also rushed to Kat’s side, touched my arm and gave me a look that said that she would handle it.
Plus (Blank) was already talking to Rose and he had one of the most serious looks on his face that I’ve seen.

He looked over at me and he yelled, “Jeffers take her to the nurse and call her parents, I’ll handle this.”

“Thanks, coach.” I replied as I adjusted Kat in my arms and started to head for the nurses office. Zoe ran ahead and grabbed the gym door for me, I noosed my thanks to her before heading down the hallway.

Kat was still unconscious in my arms as I kept talking to her hoping that she would wake up. But she didn’t and every time I shifted her too much she let out one of these little groans that broke my heart.

It seemed like forever but was only probably a few minutes before we got to the nurses office.
Nurse Hannah let me in immediately when she was Kat unconscious in my arms.

“What happened?!” She asked as she let us in and led me to the cot.

I told her what happened to Kat during gym as I set her down on the cot.

“Ok that girl should be suspended,” Nurse Hannah said as she checked Kat’s pulse.

“Coach is handling it, and he has a zero violence policy, so I’m guessing Rose is going to be called to the principals office anytime now.

“That’s good. Now let’s see if we can get Kat back to consciousness.”

I nodded and Nurse Hannah held some smelling salts in front of Kat’s nose and Kat woke with a gasp a second later.

“What happened? Where am I? Will?”

“Yeah Babe, I’m right here.” I said with a small relived smile as I grabbed her hand

“You’re in my office honey,” Nurse Hannah told Kat setting a hand on her shoulder.
“You got hit in the stomach with a dodgeball and you lost consciousness.”

“How long have I been out?” Kat asked trying to sit up and wincing at the movement.

“Only a few minutes,” I reassure her as I gently pushing her back down into the cot.

“Ok, now that you’re awake and talking I’m going to call your parents, ok?” Nurse Hannah said.

Kat nodded and Nurse Hannah went to go call them.

As soon as she left Kat turned to me. “Will my stomach hurts,”

“I know Kitty, I know it does.” I tell her squeezing her hand a little and pressing a kiss to the back of it.

“Why would Rose do that Will?” Kat asked her voice quieter this time.

“I don’t know Kitty, but I know that she’s going to be called into the principals office anytime now. Coach said that he would handle it and you know how he is.”

Kat nodded and at that very moment we heard the speaker system turn on and the principal’s voice echoed through the school.

“Rose Thorne please report to the principals office, Rose Thorne to the principals office please.”

“See told you.” I said with a grin.

But Kat wasn’t smiling, “Hey what is it? What’s wrong Kitty?” I asked gently sitting on the edge of the cot.

“Nothing’s wrong, other than my stomach feeling like it’s turning inside out,” she let out a small laugh.

“No, something is wrong, I know my girlfriend and I know when there’s something wrong.”

“Fine, so I know what Rose did was wrong and I’m glad she’s being punished for it, but….”

“But?” I encouraged.

“But I know why she did it, we both know she was mad when she ended up as my understudy. And I forgive her, I know she really didn’t mean it and that she was just mad. And also as a Christian I forgive the people who wrong me.”

I sighed. This wasn’t the first time Kat had told me about her faith, she’s invited me to church I don’t know how many times, but I always declined because of my family’s tradition of watching football (or whatever sport was in season) on Sundays as a family.

My family wasn’t religious either, I’ve been to church maybe 10 times my whole life, and most of those times it was with my grandparents, and the others were for weddings.

“Kitty, you know I’m not Christian.”

“I know,” Kat replied meeting my gaze. “But could you please come to church with me? Just once? If you do I promise I won’t ask again.”

“Fine, I will go with you this Sunday. But only because you’re hurt and I don’t really want to let you out of my sight, and because you asked so nicely.”

“Really!?” Kat’s face lit up, and I swear I’ve never seen her that happy, except maybe when I asked her to be my girlfriend and the first time we kissed.

“Yes, really.” I said and that just made her smile bigger, “As long as it makes you happy, that’s all the matters.”

That Sunday I was dressed in a nice button down and jeans waiting for the Flores’s to pick me up.

When I told my parents that I was going with Kat to church earlier this week, they were surprised since I usually love the family tradition, but they were supportive. And when my brothers (well Jackson and Georgie anyway, I haven’t told Blake about it yet since we haven’t talked since last weekend) found out they teased me about it and Kat but they also were fine with me going. In fact the only one who wasn’t fine with me going was Izzy, usually on Sundays I sit on the coach with her and let her cuddle with me, she barely ever lets me out of her sight on Sundays, so she was pretty mad when I told her about going to church with Kat.
I had also told my parents about Kat inviting me to eat supper with her and her family and her grandparents after church, they were fine with that as well as long as I was home before dark.

And Flores’s car pulled up in front of my house and Kat jumped out of the back seat.
She was dressed in a floral dress with cowboy boots, as soon as I saw that I knew she had gotten help from the girls, (Kat has zero fashion sense, I’m not being mean she literally says so herself, but she’s amazing with hair and makeup.) and her hair looked amazing as well.

“Hey, Babe you look gorgeous as always.” I said as u stood up and met Kat halfway down the driveway.

“You always say that,” Kat said with a smirk.

“Because it’s always true.”

“Oh, smooth talking huh?”

“Only with you,” I said as I took her hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it.

Kat blushed and was about to respond when the back window of her parent’s car rolled down and Trevor stuck his head out and yelled.

“Stop flirting lovebirds! We’re going to be late if y’all don’t get in the car!”

“Trevor!” Kat whirled around a yelled at her little brother.
Trevor just laughed and rolled the window back up.

Kat groaned before turning back towards me, “Sorry about him, he’s..” she blew out some air.

“Hey, no worries. I have three brothers remember? I’m used to it.”

“True, now come on before Trevor yells at us again.” Kat pulled me into the car and and we were off.
