There's only two music genres i can't stand, Gangsta Rap & Death Metal. That said, I don't think I could bring myself to nominate songs from either of those genres; I wouldn't know where to start!

This is quite a challenging roiund, but then again challenging things can be quite rewarding.....
I know exactly how you feel, Duke, also have no interest in DM and GR. And it's good to see that Val has a similar opinion to me about a lot of contemporary music big names. Sometimes I worry that maybe I should be getting into all this lauded stuff and then I remember that it is a music industry after all, and when I was young and into every genre there was still a lot of popular and acclaimed audible drivel being sold as the next big thing.
But Tim has asked for music one wouldn't normally listen to, not just stuff one can't stand, and there is quite a lot that I'm open to or curious about. Much of it usually elicits a response from Mrs Grimmy along the lines of "What the **** is that god-awful noise you are listening too?!"

I must be one of the few people in the world who's never had any desire to listen to or buy a copy of 'Thriller'. The Jacko track here was just selected by how the title made the bile rise. I've not listened to it, so it may be the greatest song ever sung or be utterly execrable. We'll see. Bon Jovi are a band I detest; awful corporate "rawk". This is the only song of theirs I can stand without wanting to change station/channel immediately.

I didn't think of operatic music or gospel, two genres that i don't pay much attention to. That said, I'm sure that if I rattle me bonce hard enough, i would find a couple of pieces from those genres that i do like & classical, yeah there are few pieces i can think of i like. As for Bagpipes....hmmm...well there's always Macca's Mull of Kintyre isn't there!

That clip just caught everything I love about Australians and Australia. I was in Sydney in 2023 and there was such a great vibe accross all the generations - Despite all the problems and strife - it feels to me that Oz is going through a golden age at the moment. Reminds me of W. Europe in the mid to late 1960s - inovation, optimism, creativity all to the fore.

Interesting to get a view from over there. I’ve never thought of us as being in a “golden age”. But I was in the city centre yesterday (didn’t see the pipers, I was at a theatre seeing Hair, the 1968 hippie musical) and the place was certainly buzzing. Tonight’s news said consumer confidence is up and unemployment is down so something must be going right. If we could just get past this unseasonal wintry weather! Bring on the Ashes and the Australian Open and it might be summer yet!

No way. The winners are great songs and deserve their points. In this round though the voting public were telling you that you were wrong, so a feeling of elated chastisement is what it's about. 👍 Zero points is the epitome of indifference, so a mark of success (and failure)
