Jess | 9 comments I read this in the 90’s but don’t know when it was written. It could be a YA or even children’s fantasy book. I recall very little and what I do remember might be very muddled! I think the main character is a young girl who meets another young girl in the woods and they strike up a friendship. The girl she meets has webbed feet and hands (I think) and calls herself a froggy girl or tadpole girl. It definitely featured water a lot and I think the webbed feet/hand girl was very strange and maybe delusional?

It was a very bizarre book and even though I read it when I was very young I knew it had some sort of underlying darker story. I know not much to go on!

Please help!!

"She spread out the fingers of her left hand. The warmth of the sun felt unfamiliar on the delicate webbing between her fingers."

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5603 comments Heaven Eyes by David Almond? Three children run away from their orphanage on a raft and meet a strange girl called Heaven Eyes, who has webbed hands and feet and there's one description of her as a 'fishy froggy girl'. David Almond's books are quite bizarre / magical realist. It was published in 2000, a little after your time range, but I thought worth mentioning.
