My nomination for January is

Las Madres by Esmeralda Santiago
Location: Bronx and Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is not its own country, but I think an area worthy of its own read. I plan to read in January.

Rated 3.99
on Kindle and $4.99

I am going to be reading A Replacement Life by Boris Fishman in January in commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in my Shelf Awareness challenge. So I'll nominate this.

Country: Belarus, author was born there
Setting: New York City

"A singularly talented writer makes his literary debut with this provocative, soulful, and sometimes hilarious story of a failed journalist asked to do the unthinkable: Forge Holocaust-restitution claims for old Russian Jews in Brooklyn, New York."

Ah, but it is a part of the US challenge, since it is a US territory! This sounds really good - how has she written so many books and I had never heard of her!

Amanda Dawn | 316 comments I'll toss in The Fisherman King for Brunei. It's available as both an ebook and on audio on my Hoopla so it might be fine for other folks to source.

Oh, that's funny. I have her novel, The Witch Doctor’s Daughter on my list for Brunei. So I can do both!

(Just wish there was something other than snakes on the cover. They make me cringe, shudder and be nauseaus all at the same time!)

How about we leave this up until Sunday evening and then I'll set up the poll? And I have no idea how I'm voting yet. They are all great nominations!

Nice! They both sound interesting, but this is the one on my Hoopla audio so chose that one. Sorry about your aversion to snakes !
