Dr. Jasmine | 8 comments Hi there folk :)

Do you think its important that even books that are full of tragedy and death (for instance, many of the dystopian novels) have a healthy dose of hope, love, kindness etc to maintain the balance? Or are " totally dark books" what some of the readers really crave..?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Jasmine

I think it's ok to just be dark and sad. Of course I love a good old-fashioned happy ending, but some stories really dont have those...

Dr. Jasmine | 8 comments Hi Sarah :)

Thank you for being so accepting of everything you read, but personally I find it hard to read a completely dark book. I'll repeat the words of Vasyl Kazmirchuk, a great writer here on Goodreads; Vasyl says : don't just abandon your reader to darkness, orient them!

So I personally think its authors duty to show that there is " some beautiful light at the end of the tunnel", even if most of the book is a struggle to get to that light.

:)
