What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this sometime in the 2010s (I was around 11–13). It was definitely fiction and the main character was a girl.

The most specific thing I remember is the cover:
* It was a pink paperback
* It had a small birthday cake on the front cover centered towards the top

Other details I remember (but I’m not 100% certain):
* The book may have had light romance or dealt with teen feelings/relationships.
* I think one of the characters may have been named Cricket or Roo, but I’m not positive.
* I distinctly remember the word “melodramatic” appearing in the dialogue or narration.
* I don’t remember much of the plot, but I remember it feeling like a realistic teen story, possibly involving birthdays or friendships.
* There might’ve been something to do with sitting by a lake/creek together, and gift-giving- a bracelet, or piece of jewelry seemed to be important? (Info from a Reddit post but no one could ID the book)

It was published in English and available in the U.S. (I likely read it from a school or public library).
