Elise I read some good reviews about this book before I read it. At the beginning of the book it makes you feel really excited and hopeful that this will be a good read. Remy is very bad a## and likeable. But getting towards the fourth and fifth chapters, everything is muddled and confusing. The characters are not developed very well and neither is the plot. There was too much going on and Dessen left a lot of strings hanging. It got very hard to read by the middle of the book. Dessen should have focused more on remy and dexter's relationship and less about remy trying to figure out if she believed in love. Dessen kept bringing that up and by the third time it's like WE UNDERSTAND SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN LOVE. The author leaves a lot of strings behind, like I said and it was hard to follow because there was always something new. I enjoyed the beginning of this book, but I believe that Dessen could have developed her characters more and created a flowing plot.

Kenna I agree mostly with what you have explained. Although I believe that Dessen has had some very amazing character development in some of her other books but, this one was not as friendly in that particular department. Although, I didn't make too much of a big deal of it because after all, this book is a very short stand alone and I did not expect any more, to be quite frank. I do wish that she focused more on the relationship but I do understand why she was drilling into our heads that Remy does not believe in love: to show a better analyzed ending in the final chapters. I would give this book 3.4/5 stars. But, if you have not read any of her other books, Lock and Key is a good one to start out with.-if you ask me. :) overall I agree with your statement but I thoroughly LOVED the book. :D

Elise thanks, I will check it out :)
